Obama's jobs record: Better than Bush's
CNN Money ^ | 9/18/12 | Chris Isidork

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Mitt Romney is accusing President Obama of overseeing the worst jobs recovery since the Great Depression.

And months of disappointing jobs growth means the president could face Election Day with fewer workers than on the day he took office.

But Romney's accusation is wrong -- President Obama's job gap isn't the worst. In fact, it isn't nearly as big as the one President George Bush faced eight years ago.

Here are the numbers:

There are 261,000 fewer employees on payrolls today than when Obama took office. But at the same point of the Bush administration, the jobs deficit stood at 856,000 jobs, according to current estimates of the same period.

By comparison, the unemployment rate today is only slightly higher than the 7.8% rate on the day Obama was sworn in, and slightly better than the 8.3% reading a few weeks later.

I love they way they (MSM) just pooh-poohs the unemployment rate under Barack Hussein Obama. They were screaming when unemployment under Bush was 5.4%

This is B.S. Unemployment was consistently at 5.5% throughout most of the Bush administration. It didn’t spike until the rats took over congress. And when Bush left office it was 7% not 8+. Still running against Bush. Pathetic!

IMO, total B. S.

The Obama folks are lying their asses off. And CNN is a charter member of the DNCp.

I will say though, the average Obama supporter has an I.Q. that is less than that of a field of grass, so this will loom large on their political radar.

Employment figures under Bush were nowhere near as bad as they have been under the Obama administration. The DNCp can play with the numbers, and come up with some audacious claims, but that’s all they are.

Obama is a massive failure at home. He’s a massive failure when it comes to foreign relations.

What does this guy have to run on? It’s all a vapor trail. No wonder they’re lying.

John 8:44

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Around 2004 unemployment was so low in our area that our company had to hire a marginally qualified employee with no job experience to fill a responsible job slot because the only two other people who responded to our help want ads after 2 months of advertising were an alcoholic who came to the job interview drunk and convicted child molester who had just been released on parole.

Now unemployment is so high we hardly even have a rush hour commute where before it traffic jams for two hours before and after quitting time

New Study: Startup Job Creation Collapses
Press Release

September 13, 2012
by Hudson Institute

WASHINGTON—Data from the U.S. Department of Commerce indicates a continued and accelerating collapse of startup job creation in recent years. A new economic policy briefing paper from Hudson Institute, The Collapse of Startups in Job Creation, takes a close look at this troubling trend and concludes that entrepreneurship in the United States is in a parlous state.

Hudson Chief Economist Tim Kane, author of the new study, reports that job creation at newly formed firms—those less than one year old—has now skidded to an all-time low. In the aggregate, since 1977, new firms have combined to create a net average of 3 million jobs per year. But in the most recent available annual data—for 2010—that figure was an alarming 22 percent off the mean, at just 2.34 million. And the drop-off becomes even starker when the figures are adjusted for population, which continues to rise. During the George H.W. Bush and Clinton years, roughly 11.3 Americans per thousand worked in startup jobs. But the number then fell to 10.8 per thousand during the George W. Bush administration. And it has since fallen still further, and precipitously, to 7.8 per thousand during the Obama administration

Note that DROP to 7.8 from 10.8 start ups. We saw you coming Obama of Roanoke.

I remember there was such a shortage of workers, they were hiring seniors back from retirement.

What a fool. The labor force participation rate is near record lows because of this President’s policies. Real unemployment is over 11% if the same number of people are in the labor force as when Obama took office.
