Obama's jobs record: Better than Bush's
CNN Money ^ | 9/18/12 | Chris Isidork

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Mitt Romney is accusing President Obama of overseeing the worst jobs recovery since the Great Depression.

And months of disappointing jobs growth means the president could face Election Day with fewer workers than on the day he took office.

But Romney's accusation is wrong -- President Obama's job gap isn't the worst. In fact, it isn't nearly as big as the one President George Bush faced eight years ago.

Here are the numbers:

There are 261,000 fewer employees on payrolls today than when Obama took office. But at the same point of the Bush administration, the jobs deficit stood at 856,000 jobs, according to current estimates of the same period.

Facts Facts Facts

There you go with the facts again.

Facts are racist and anyone that repeats facts is a racist and Oh yea, it’s Bush’s fault that facts are racist.

"I remember there was such a shortage of workers, they were hiring seniors back from retirement."

If they haven't already, they're likely to hire seniors back from retirement for part time work again, thanks to the full-time employee cost of Obamacare. There is still a shortage of skilled, experienced workers available at a reasonable cost.

The job outlook for 20-somethings living in mom's basement is less positive.

How many months did Bush face a Democrat-controlled Congress?

Exactly, I wish we had a quick list of the average unemployment per year from 2001-2008 to quickly deflect this absurd position. Our side just sits and takes it, time after time, and refuse to defend our record.

The smartest thing Romney could do is to start doing what Newt did in the primaries and in each appearance state what the economic growth was at 3 yrs, 10 months into Reagan’s term and compare it to Obama’s measly numbers. That was extremely effective from Newt last year, and would be even more so a year later as Obama’s numbers are worse.

“I will say though, the average Obama supporter has an I.Q. that is less than that of a field of grass, so this will loom large on their political radar.” Well said, as grass is green so his supporters only see the green from the government. Qualification and integrity are as meaningless to them as a pebble thrown into the ocean.

Zero has “created or saved” millions more jobs than Bush.

The whole reason the polar caps have not melted and Manhattan is not flooded is because Zero is in office. We need 4 more years of this, or we’ll die.

His supporters are not all lay-abouts. They have kids staying in their basements I would bet. They have family members asking to borrow money because they have lost their jobs. They wince when they have to fill up the gas tanks of their cars. They put things back on the shelf at the store because they don’t have enough money for that.

I didn’t say his supporters were smart, but I know there are some who fit this scenario very well.

Absolutely right.

In those days, when I went to the grocery store, there was a white haired greeter at the door.

Now when I go to the grocery store, there are elderly people hanging around the entrance offering to take people who planned to take their groceries on the bus, a ride home for 2 or 3 dollars.

I regularly see spot jobs and casual labor being offered on Craigslist where the pay offered for the work on completion, amounts to significantly less than the legal minimum wage when you gauge the time required to complete. Often I see replies posted to these ads, that say something to the effect of “Re: Are you out of your mind?”... and yet, by the end of the day, those jobs are all gone, snapped up.

I thank God that I have a small biz that lets me eke by, but if I see a moving job on craigslist, I grab it... I have a gift for lifting heavy objects that often gets me tips at the end of the day... I look at it as getting paid to go to the gym ;^)

I remember there was such a shortage of workers, they were hiring seniors back from retirement.

They had already been sucked up out of the job market and hired by the time we needed to fill our job slot.

Now, official unemployment is around 11% and unofficial unemployment number is way higher.

These high unemployment numbers don't really tell the whole story though because they don't count the out flux of the huge number of people who have simply picked up stakes and moved out of state because they can't find work.

Anybody remember the term that the Dems coined “underemployment”? The unemployment figures in my state were so low that we officially had a labor shortage and could not find qualified people to fill positions. The Dems said “Sure unemployment is low, but these people don’t have good jobs.” Well, I’m sure some of them would like just about ANY job right about now!

Note how Isadork dishonestly compares apples and oranges: the collapsing workforce under Obama, with something he calls “the jobs deficit” under Bush. What is the “jobs deficit” under Obama? 11 million?

Facts are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late
Facts all come with points of view
Facts don’t do what I want them to
Facts just twist the truth around
Facts are living turned inside out
Facts are getting the best of them
Facts are nothing on the face of things
Facts don’t stain the furniture
Facts go out and slam the door
Facts are written all over your face
Facts continue to change their shape
