A black helicopter hovering overhead can lead those below to become worried, scared or suspicious. But when a large aircraft positioned itself over a Prince William County high schools football field last Wednesday afternoon, students who had just been released for the day excitedly watched as a stuffed bulldog with a red-bandanna parachute emerged.
The big-eyed pup drifted to the turf, delivering a message from a junior boy to a senior girl: Fall Fest?
As students look to one-up their classmates for the most outrageous way to ask a girl on a date in this case Patriot High Schools version of a homecoming dance this boys approach might have set a new standard.
The boys father is a senior official in air operations at U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

there are no black helicopters...
Ray Liotta knows about those danged black helicopters.
Somebody’s dad needs to lose his job.
Geez folks. Lighten up a bit. You really want to see this guy lose his job for this? Seriously?
Come on...
I had that thought as well, But then, if the chopper was scheduled to be up and flying anyway and the school was not a side trip, no harm done. A quick investigation should settle that.
Yes. Seriously.
Your tax dollars at work.
Nah. Sorry to disagree on this one, but I do.
Not a problem. It’s still (theoretically) a free country!
That’s the One!!!! LOL!!!
If you are going to do something like this, shouldn’t you use your own helicopter?
LOL... or should it be COL?
Lets see, our country has been literally flooded with tens of millions of illegals, to the point where it's choking off our schools, jails, hospitals, social services, not to mention compromising and undermining our electoral process, as a tax paid 20 million dollar border protection helicopter plays a part in a high school dating game?
lol...
If they were using a regularly scheduled practice or test flight, I got no problem with this.
I do question why customs in Prince William County, Virginia needs a helicopter in the first place. More overfunded bureaucratic spending on shiny toys.
I’m not sure how far the base of operations is from this school, but it seems entirely possible this helicopter could been tied up for less than fifteen minutes, if the distance was fairly close.
The helicopters don’t fly 24 hours per day. This could have been after a shift, when the craft would have remained unused until the next morning. We don’t even know if the person paid for the fuel himself.
This is massive overkill over something that amounts to next to nothing.
One poster even mentioned the maintenance costs this would generate. Seriously, this is plain silly.
Hello, D1, It’s good to see you again. I don’t participate here much anymore for just the sorts of reasons you’re experiencing here. People have lost their sense of proportion and ability to discriminate the important from the trivial, much less waiting or investigating to discover the facts of a matter... /grin
I can’t stand not coming here. After reading something on the internet, I always want to talk back and then remember I’m not on FR. LOL
