That was quick Less than an hour ago Drudge posted video of Barack Obama telling an audience in 1998 that he believes in redistribution of wealth. Mitt Romney was just on Your World with Cavuto and hammered the president over this shocking admission. He wants redistribution of wealth. I disagree.
(video)
Mitt Romney on Barack Obama:
Frankly we have two very different views about America. The presidents view is one of a larger government. Theres a tape that just came out today where the president is saying he likes redistribution. I disagree. I think a society based upon a government-centered nation where government plays a larger and larger role, redistributes money, thats the wrong course for America. That will not build a strong America or help people out of poverty. I believe the right course for America is one where government steps in to help those who are in need. Were a compassionate people. But then we let people build their own lives We believe in free people and free enterprises.
Touché.

OMG!!! Someone smacking back!!! He hits you, you hit back TWICE AS HARD.
The worm is turning, funny
Go, Mitt, Go!!
Romney:
Quit calling it WEALTH! It is not just WEALTH that obastard wants to redistribute it is ALL EARNINGS AND PROPERTY.
People need to understand this. NOBODY who owns or earns is excluded from the redistribution scheme except for the ruling class elites like obastard.
It was a good interview. The White House response so far has been WEAK. “the president represents all people”... WEAK!
Romney and his surrogates (looking at you, Sununu” need to continue pile-driving Obama on this. Throw in criticism of leaving our consulate defenseless and we can put the Rats on defense all the way to the debates.
Don’t stop at the debates. Keep them running past the election.
Mitt has been pretty damn strong on Conservative values.
He has said the things that need to be said — and will be held to it (unlike libtards who only care about words not actions).
Is FR still against Mitt?
Maybe the Romney campaign can extend a hand to James O’Keefe and hire him. He is pretty good at his sting operations.
I am so happy to have a candidate who dishes it out.
I don’t want low class, low blows, sneering or innuendo. But to take it to the mat and call garbage out, I love it.
Was very pleased by Romney’s response on Cavuto’s show. Very well done.
The only place he needs to respond a little differently is on the issue of that percentage of the 47% (elderly, military, etc.) that don’t pay taxes but will vote his way. I think it’s pretty clear he was conflating the tax rate with Obama’s baked in support. He should just admit that was the case and then frame it the way he did.
If he sticks with this he will finally have an argument that is precise and persuasive.
What a shocking coincidence ...
maybe he can get some college entrance documentation along with some of Obama’s college paper’s...
I believe this is the same thing Joe the Plumber surmised back in ‘08 when he called Hussein a socialist, isn’t it?
Fair play would be the media playing this as much the Romney fundraiser one, but I’m not betting my next oil bill on that.
Refreshing and encouraging.
First Mitt says that half the country wants a free ride from the government (TRUTH), then he shows that Obama believes in wealth redistribution (TRUTH, well, duh.). And the media has a cow. Let us not speak the truth in such matters lest it expose us for who we really are. Go Mitt!
That clip from 1998 is nothing, go listen to the one from 2001 on NPR in Chicago on the court, the constitution, and redistribution, far more radical.
We should have a project on FR to methodically comb through everything and find things he has said.
Bet there is something damaging out there.
Good to see him with some fight, but a little too bad for his out-of-touch rich guy image that redistribution is what seems to really get his juices going.
Also, by taking a stand against ‘redistribution’ he’s opening himself up to claims that he’ll take away the ‘safety net’ for the infirm.
That’s the one I believe where he is talking about “posiive rights”. That is as radical as you can get. I don’t know if the American public would get it though....
I hope not.
That would earn him standing with the likes of Deep Throat or something . . . a journalist who’s breaking story would likely not be topped for many decades to come.
Poppycock. Those are the same people that won't vote for him anyway.
(Ping to #25!!)
:)
Whoa! Spinal Transplant!
“He brings a knife, you bring a gun...” to quote a certain political figure.
Excellent point!
If we called it what it is -- income redistribution, or, maybe, paycheck redistribution -- it would have more impact as well as being more accurate.
That’ll cause Axelhead some heartburn; Alinskyites don’t like to be Alinskied.
RomneyCare(tm) is a huge indictment.
He needs to apologize for RomneyCare, refute its intellectual basis, and admit the hated 0bamaCare is fully based on RomneyCare.
After he renounces his promotion of straight-up Socialism, I could be fully on board.
In the mean time, it is good to hear any conservative position upheld in public, even if I don’t trust Romney (see above.)
Well it is about time. However mitt just does not come across as hard hitting. I want to see him angrily demanding obama explain what happened to our libya, eqypt, our consulate and our economy. In 4 years o bama has destroyed a country. He also needs to ask “barney fife” to identify all responsible for not allowing guards to have bullets in a muslim country on 9/11.
I’m so sick of all the cry baby negatives. Now attacking socialist “redistribution” makes you a “rich guy”? To hell with redistribution it’s un American. Period.
Romney fights back? I’m afraid I’ll wake up soon and its just a dream.
Werksferme!!
Ain’t it sad, there seems to be no one out there with the cajones dig up real dirt on Obama, but what’s even sadder, that dirt has to be hidden from the American people else, the 47% would drop to 46%...
Was Sununu like this ‘way back when’? I recall the name, but don’t recall him being so outspoken - he’s quite an effective ‘attack dog’. To my great enjoyment, he makes mincemeat of the media interviewing him .... great spokesperson for Romney.
I'm FOR Mitt...voting 3rd Party = Obama wins
WHOO HOO! A FIGHT! A real FIGHT!
Would not surprise me if Zer0 was drawn out into the open on purpose with this deal.
If Mitt has other damning tapes, he should consider getting them out before early voting begins. Dems hammer their followers to vote early. (and often?)
I completely understand your line of thought, but for me he has already passed the test—he’s not Obama.
It wasn’t easy for me to get there and it took some time (I am very stubborn), but there is no way that I can take another 4 years of Obama and the filthy democrats screwing with my life.
Anything conservative.... is better than nothing conservative.
People love to live under the illusion that trouble is going to happen to somebody else.
Dad had a picture near his desk of a view through a rifle scope of a couple of bears. One was pointing to the other.
The droning mantra of “redistribution of WEALTH” makes the lemmings think of the other bear. When the “WEALTHY” are chopped down who is next in line?
Stupid people.
I know I am probably wrong on this but, I have been wondering since the convention if Romney might be forced by circumstances to begin to govern conservatively. These events recently certainly makes one take a stand. But, then you must stand by your word. (GHW Bush did not and it cost him.)
and hes a damn genius for it
whats going to be worth the price of admission is when the lsm realizes they've been had
Leaving the consulates/embassies unprotected was nothing next to his causing Our nation to facilitate the downfall of the secular governments of Egypt and Libya. What’s happening now wasn’t foreseeable, it was the only possible outcome. America will be expected (and rightly so) to try and put out the flames of Muslim rage and violence that it, through the person and policies of president hussein, incited.
I don’t see how you put this genie back in the bottle short of using armed force, which won’t happen, or else Bibi taking matters into his own hands. Regardless, the cost to America and the West will be incalculable.
Still can’t believe our media, alone in the world and in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, is still parroting the WH and State Dept. lies that all this violence and unrest was spurred by a silly YouTube video. Simply embarrassing to those of us still capable of shame.
My first instinct was that this could be a turning point in his campaign...and can be turned to win over lingering undecideds. The talk radio crew said the same today, and it looks like Mitt may follow suit.
