Prince Harry at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan on September 7.
LONDON — Britain's defense secretary says Prince Harry got extra protection when the Taliban attacked his base in Afghanistan last Friday.
Philip Hammond says the prince, a helicopter pilot, was moved to a secure position once it was clear that the perimeter of Camp Bastion had been breached.
In an interview with the BBC Monday night, Hammond said: "He is serving there as an ordinary officer but clearly there are additional security arrangements in place that recognize that he could be a target himself specifically as a result of who he is."
Two U.S. Marines were killed and six planes were destroyed. The Taliban said the attack was staged to avenge a film that insulted Islam and because Harry is serving at the base.

Makes sense to me. He has been targeted BY NAME to be killed by the Islamofascists. Hopefully, we’d do the same thing to anyone who was specifically targeted by them too.
Give Prince Harry extra protection right back to the UK.
As much as he wants to be just one of the guys, he isn't.
Harry shouldn’t be serving in a front line post unless he can do it anonymously. Otherwise it’s an increased danger to himself and others.

You’re overlooking how important it is for a Royal to be setting an example, by military service.
Prince Harry is a national symbol. Do they even let him fly Apaches while he’s in Afghanistan? That’s a good question.

In the middle of chaos, as a royal, should he not lead by example and not be fussed over?
If he’s a combat helicopter pilot, I would think he’d be itching to go aloft and fight.
Serving, not window dressing.
I’m to old school to accept such protection sensibilities.
But, I understand, I guess, if Prince Harry didn’t want the Taliban to get his knickers down.
