ABC News' Jake Tapper asked White House Press Secretary Jay Carney about Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius violating the Hatch Act, at today's press briefing. Carney responded that Sec. Sebelius had made an "inadvertent error based on extemporaneous remarks."
The U.S. Office of Special Counsel claimed Sec. Sebelius had made extemporaneous partisan remarks during a speech in her official capacity earlier this year.
The Hatch Act prohibits employees (civil servants) in the executive branch of the federal government from engaging in partisan political activity.
The standard penalty for violating the Hatch Act is termination. According to OSC, any employee who violates the Hatch Act shall be removed from their position, and funds appropriated for the position from which removed thereafter may not be used to pay the employee or individual.

That quote’s misleading. http://www.osc.gov/haFederalPenalties.htm
“An employee who violates the Hatch Act shall be removed from their position, and funds appropriated for the position from which removed thereafter may not be used to pay the employee or individual. However, if the Merit Systems Protection Board finds by unanimous vote that the violation does not warrant removal, a penalty of not less than a 30-day suspension without pay shall be imposed by direction of the Board.”
Can this Congress do nothing?
Ohhhhkay: So lets have some context. What did she say and How did she say it.
The story doesn’t say.
Just has an ugly picture of an ugly woman on it.
The Obama regime sees themselves as above the law!
Why is the GOP not screaming about this?
There’s also a law that all males born after 12/31/59 have to register with Selective Service (aka “The Draft”) or be forever barred from federal employment, yet somehow Barry got around that.
Were you or I be so careless as to ‘inadvertently’ commit an offense against established Federal Law, AND we were against the Obama adminstration, we’d be keel-hauled to court and sentenced to prison and/or heavy fine.
For an Obama crony, apparently ignorance of the law IS an excuse.
Oh to be a worker bee in a prosecutions office of a newly elected Romney administration ferreting our former Obama adminsitration officials’ violations and relentlessly prosecuting them until they are imprisoned. My new dream....
Let’s fire the ENTIRE 0bama REGIME now!
Is that a term placed in use by Holder so they don't have to explain good old fashioned law breaking?
Of course they can. They can do nothing almost every day.
Not any longer My FRiend. That was pre 2008. Since 2009 old things have passed away except when they pertain to Republicans. Courtesy of fools, idiots, American haters, and parasites, we are now living in a frightening [to me anyway] new world. And, as the old saying goes,"You ain't seen nothing yet"!. These young peolle who voted for him in 2008 and were having orgams that he was elected, have no idea what they inflicted upon themselves and do not have the intelligence to ever learn. They were born stupid, lived stupid, and when they die, will die stupid. And they put just the bastard in the White House that when their usefulness to him is over, will kill them.
ARRRGH! I'm really getting P!ssed off....what the hell!
Oh, that’s right! I forgot! It’s not really breaking the law if you don’t do it on purpose!
This is a very great statement, thank you for making it.
But it all boils down to what will be allowed versus what won't be allowed. And if it won't be allowed - it WON'T be allowed.
"If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened." - Matthew 24:22
Is this the ugly woman?
When the info leaked out, that is exactly what the Clintons called their possession of 1,000 + FBI files on insider DC elites and their political enemies. As far as anyone knows, the Clintons still have those files. And lets not forget Sandy Burger who inadvertently stuffed top secret files in his socks that contained damaging information on Bill Clinton's presidency. Basically, there is no controlling authority to enforce the law on political insiders in this country.
Obamao, First Emperator of America.
And they been “Takin’ care of bizness”
They called what Sandy Berger did an inadvertent error as well. The rules only apply to some.
I'm noticing how the criminal elites in the federal government generally manage to skate.
I have instructed the lawyer I keep on retainer to respond to any and all questions as “inadvertant error”./s
To Be Clear:
They are not against enforcing these laws,
They are against enforcing these laws ONLY against fellow democrats.
With Republicans, they don’t even have to break any laws, they just try to get them to resign on their own, or go on fishing expeditions and get them on a technicality or the fact the charges were brought in the first place whether they are true or not, is bad enough the Republican needs to go one way or the other.
Because, my FRiend, they are all in it together.
Don't doubt it for a second.
There is some resemblance, but this one has a more intelligent looking face.
All those tendons and veins in her neck and the little slit of a mouth freak me out. She looks like she’s from another planet. Not Carville’s, though.
