Tim Pawlenty quit as co-chair of Mitt Romney's presidential campaign on Thursday to become one of Wall Street's top lobbyists in Washington. Pawlenty, a former governor of Minnesota, will lead the Financial Services Roundtable.

The move came with Romney's campaign struggling to find its stride with just seven weeks left before Election Day. Polls show the former Massachusetts governor running neck and neck with President Barack Obama in a contest both sides predict will be very close

“John Bolton would be awesome.”

Bolton is already working for Romney as a senior national security advisor. My guess is Romney is lining Bolton up for Secretary of State or some other important post, like Homeland Security chief.

Really! It’s a pity he didn’t go further on, the same with many of the others, like Mr. Cain, Mr. Perry, Mr. Santorum,...

I used to feel the way you do and I used the same smug arguments to avoid having to make hard choices. Then 911 happened and I reevaluated all the work I had done for the Libertarian Party.

Realistically, what I had done was insure that more leftists got elected. The real fight is in the media. The MSM controlled the country far more than politicians did because they decided what were the issues and what the fights were about.

Now we are building enough new media to counteract them and to start restoring the Constitution. It will not happen with Obama, but Romney at least can be pressured from our side, and has a chance of selecting supreme court appointees that have some respect for the Constitution.

You will do what you will, but after 911, I gave up on being a smug moralist who was above the dirty political conflict, and concentrated on what can actually have an effect.

The media is the biggest change we can make. Just posting on freerepublic shows that you are engaged on that front. But, the new media has to have material that can be pushed the right way. A Romney administration can be pushed in the right direction. Obama will do everything he can to destroy the new media.

And Rahm Emanuel quit as Obama’s Co-chair. This is meaningless, it was an honorary position. Clearly the lobbying firm is anticipating a GOP win.

Emanuel had a better offer: Mayor of Chicago.

Pawlenty seems milquetoast to me each time I watch him. So glad he is not the VP nominee.

No. I mention her because she was the one he attacked. I am amazed that people were so upset about the MSM and others because of their attacks on her think it was fine for him to do so. He was not running against her. His only reason was so he could run again in 4 years instead of 8. Romney;s ego helped give us Obama and 4 miserable years. If you want to thank him for the damage done that is your choice. Bit of a double standard, you hate Obama but love the guy who helped put him in office. You liberals will win this election no matter who gets elected.

Neck and neck, just like 1980 and 1984 were up until election eve!

EXACTLY! In 1980 at this point in the race, Carter was about 30 points ahead

I never liked Pawlenty. He's too mild mannered with no cape to back him up in a fight. We don't need Clark Kent, we need the alter ego. While Mittens doesn't exactly fit the bill, he's infinitely better than the Lex Luthor in the WH now.

Emanuel only quit as co-chair recently, long after he had been elected Mayor of Chicagoland.
