French authorities said they feared the cartoons published Wednesday in satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo could cause more outrage in the Muslim world, days after a video denigrating the Prophet Muhammad helped to fuel violent protests at U.S. and other Western embassies in several Muslim countries.

Paris's move to pre-emptively close its embassies highlights how Western governments are grappling to respond to a wave of protests whose flash points lie largely out of their control.
The French government said that although freedom of speech rules applied in France, the magazine's publication of the cartoons was ill-timed. "It is dangerous, even irresponsible, when we know the general climate, to pour oil on fire," Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told reporters in Paris on Wednesday.
French authorities didn't disclose the list of embassies subject to closure. But government officials said they had decided to close buildings on Friday because it is the main day of prayer for Muslims, suggesting the order would apply mainly to Muslim countries. Ambassadors could choose to keep their embassies closed beyond Friday for security reasons, a spokesman at the Foreign Ministry said.

The chicken-sh!t French in making this move, are essentially raising the white flag in standing up to tyranny, injustice, everything Western civilization has ever fought for and against demonstrating to Muslims everywhere that to a certain degree it is the beginning of the end of Western civilization in that they have won.

Mark Steyn made a couple interesting points in `America Alone’:
1. the truism that muslims are simply incapable of assimilating (i.e. they simply refuse to do so) into their host country, except for understanding and adopting the `grievance’ political model (see: Jackson/Sharpton/`phobia’); and,
2. the only reason we haven’t seen the type of nonsense in our country going on in `Eurabia,’ e.g. burning cars, harassing women not wearing head scarves, declaring certain pars of cities exempt from civil law and subject to shariah, is that, either they aren’t strong enough yet, or they know that we wouldn’t stand for it, or both.

Simply announce that, on every incident where Westerners are harmed by Islamic mobs, we will quietly find out who was whipping up the crowds, and who was financing and supporting those people. We will add them to a list.
Each week, a French newspaper should post satirical pics of mohammed. Perhaps a series spanning months, until the French gov’t realizes it can remain paralyzed in fear or man up & realize that muzzies hate us, will always hate us, regardless of what we do.
There is no point to having diplomatic relations with countries if it means fear & appeasement. Might as well close the embassies, run home, & hide.
Or, France can tell the host countries that they WILL protect the embassies & staff, or they can close THEIR embassies in France & GET THE HELL OUT!
What pisses me off is how the left defends muslims and islam and a man who would be classed as a sick child molester today because he married Aisha at her age of 6 and then waited to ave sex with her when she reached 9.
The left defends them but have no problem with making fun and attacking Christians especially the homostapo and homosexuals on their websites, on their freak parades etc.
