IUDs, implants urged for teen girls' birth control
AP/Fox News ^ | 9/21/2012

Teenage girls may prefer the pill, the patch or even wishful thinking, but their doctors should be recommending IUDs or hormonal implants — long-lasting and more effective birth control that you don't have to remember to use every time, the nation's leading gynecologists group said Thursday.

The IUD and implants are safe and nearly 100 percent effective at preventing pregnancy, and should be "first-line recommendations," the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said in updating its guidance for teens.

Both types of contraception are more invasive than the pill, requiring a doctor to put them in place. That, and cost, are probably why the pill is still the most popular form of contraception in the U.S.

Why not just sterilize every female when she reaches puberty? Presto! No unplanned pregnancy! (/s)

But seriously, I wonder if there’s active cooperation between the promoters of promiscuity and toxic contraceptives on the one hand, and the purveyors of artificial reproduction technology on the other. It would seem that they have a financial interest in common.

How about all of the infertility caused by IUD use?

Taxpayers will be paying for this in the long run when these women want children later on and demand government paid for fertility treatments and then medical care and special education or the resulting multiple births (which face danger of all kinds of problems, from bad hearts to blindness.)

Better that our culture dial down the heavy sexuality in movies, music, fashion, etc. And then teach the girls to hold an aspiring between their knees when they kiss a boy.

IUDs for teens, indeed! Bah, humbug!

Never mind what the hormones are doing to them. Of all the complaints about chemicals in our world, I don’t hear the smart people concerned about birth control chemicals. They seem to be off limits for any real criticism, much like HRT was before an honest study showed real concerns.

My thought, as well.

When I was a teenaged girl, I would have been highly insulted if my doctor thought that I would be in need of any such device.

Of course, in those days, girls were expected to keep their knees together.

An IUD is a bad idea for anyone not in a long term monogamous relationship. You get an infection with that thing in place and it can wreak havoc. I hope people do their own research before listening to some bonehead idea.

Chastity is so “limiting” in the age of the slut.

The popular, godless culture has set up young girls (and young men) for disappointment, disease and death.

Aspirin, the most perfect form of birth control:

One tablet ...

Aspirin...

It originated with the dearly-departed advice columnist, Ann Landers. (At least, I tend to give her the credit.)

the patch

The patch kills females quicker than the pill does.

Parents Sue After 14-Year-Old Daughter Died with Birth Control Patch

"The patch, which releases a dose of contraceptive hormones into a woman's blood stream through the skin, has been responsible for at least 17 deaths in women age 17 to 30 since its release in 2002, according to the US Food and Drug Administration." 21 November 2005
