The House Ethics Committee has completed a report clearing Rep. Maxine Waters of all ethics charges after nearly three years of investigating the California Democrat.

At a rare public hearing for Waters on Friday, members of the secretive Ethics panel said they were prepared to issue a report finding the lawmaker innocent of allegations that she tried to secure federal money during the financial crisis for a bank in which her husband owned stock.

The hearing is being used to move the report, so Waters would not be formally cleared until it concludes. The panel began the hearing earlier this morning.

The fate of Waters’s chief of staff and grandson, Mikael Moore, is less certain. The committee is threatening to sanction the staff member for using his position to assist One United Bank, where Waters’s husband owned $350,000 in stock.

If Waters is cleared, it would all but guarantee that the veteran lawmaker will take over next year as the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee. Rep. Barney Frank (Mass.), who has been the top Democrat, is retiring.

Now that's depressing....

It sounds to me like the so called “House Ethics Panel” was afraid of having the race card played on them. You can’t run a government like this. Washington is so corrupt.

What’s the sense? Why believe anything can be changed in a lifetime? The corrupt perfect corruption. There are no overseers. Maybe there never were and will never be. This upsets me beyond belief. What do You want, Lord?

I don’t think many of us really EXPECTED any penalty for corruption to be levied against a black democrat.

Corruption for that class of politician is seen as an entitlement.

Well of course an elected politician is never held accountable - her grandson however, the one she gave the money to is being blamed.

You are somehow surprised at this? the liars thieves cheats & child molesters that are the Congress of the United States would never vote to convict one of their own for being a financial crook.
