Unemployment rates rise in half of US states

Unemployment rates rose in more than half of U.S. states last month, the latest evidence that hiring remains tepid across the country.

The Labor Department says rates increased in 26 states. They fell in 12 states and were unchanged in the other 12. Unemployment also rose in seven of the 11 key swing states in this year's presidential election.

Nationwide, hiring employers added only 96,000 jobs in August, below July's gain of 141,000 and the average of 226,000 jobs a month added in January-March quarter.

The U.S. unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent from 8.3 percent in July. But that was only because many people gave up looking for work. The government only counts people as unemployed if they are actively searching for jobs.

I heard a laughable montage on Rush yesterday. All the libtard media heads claiming “machine gun-like good news on the economy.” LOL!

I don’t care what these doctored polls say, Obama is not going to win this election.

Even if I were to have expected this, it would be Bush’s fault.

Unemployment goes up and the word used to describe hiring is tepid. OK.

The reason you could be wrong is that you don’t know any street people, drug addicts, communist students, mentally retarded, or homosexuals. /s

It doesn’t matter. If we get more turn out, we win. Right now the Democrats’ strategy is to try to discourage us, by telling us Romney can’t win. That’s what a failed incumbent does. It won’t work - if we all turn out, and get our conservative friends and family to do the same.

There aren’t enough of them; at this point you can remove students from that group, but I would substitute “public school teachers” in their place. College ain’t the party it used to be; it costs more, and you’ll be earning $0 when you graduate.

Very few people have any stake in Obama winning re-election; even blacks are much worse off than 4 years ago.

You should have put the “apologies to democrats” BEFORE the /sarcasm switch.

You have concisely described half of the democrat party constituency. The other half are SEIU meatheads and people educated WAY above their actual intelligence.

The irony is that some of these states may actually re-qualify to offer EB (Extended Benefits) unemployment insurance, funded by DC and tied to state rate rising above national rate.

Is the Romney Campaign running any ads, etc. to discourage turnout of Obama voters?

Today’s headline is that unemployment in NJ is 9.9% ! In a state that everyone expects to go for Obama.

Keep in mind Obama WANTS your state loaded with poor and unemployed people.

That is weird. So they raised in half and obviously fell in the other half. Just a weird article title....not that anything is new with that.

Reverse Wilding Effect. Blacks will vote for Romney and say they voted for BO.
