House Votes To Block Obama’s Decision To Gut Welfare Work Requirements…

Racist!

Via The Hill:

The House voted Thursday to block the Obama administration’s decision to let states waive the current work requirement for welfare recipients.

Members approved the Republican resolution of disapproval in a 250-164 vote, after a bitter debate in which Republicans charged President Obama with trying to change the law without consulting Congress, and Democrats said Republicans were raising the issue to help GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney after his widely criticized remarks about people on welfare. Nineteen Democrats voted for the resolution.

While the measure passed the House, the Obama administration’s change to the implementation of the welfare law will remain in effect until the Senate approves the resolution, which is not expected to happen.

Republicans said the rule, from the Department of Health and Human Services, would gut a central element of the 1996 welfare reform law that created the current system under which federal welfare benefits are delivered through block grants to states. That law requires 50 percent of a state’s welfare recipients to be working, or undertake efforts to prepare for work, such as training or looking for a job, which Republicans say is a critical component.

One of the motivations behind the welfare reform legislation passed by President Bill Clinton in 1996 was to make it harder for people to receive benefits illegally. What we really need is a Welfare Fraud Czar!

First...this is a RESOLUTION...it is not a BILL

Even if this passed 435-0...it is meaningless. It is a RESOLUTION, not a BILL

I am surprised that our Civics and American Government education is so bad...people do not know the difference.

If the House GOP was truly serious in curtailing Obama’s “No Work for Welfare”....they would have authored and passed a BILL

This is a stupid decision from the White Hut that can only lead to more welfare, more poverty and more misery for those at the bottom. Only an irresponsible, incompetent idiot of a president would ever want to reverse the work rules for welfare. I guess he really just wants to create more dependency.

And that bill would never get a vote in the current Senate anyway the same as this meaningless resolution. It is more of a statement than anything meant to garner public opinion against the regime.

Its pitiful that the body charged with legislating on behalf of the people has been reduced to pleading with the tyrant to stop making law on his own.

The republic is gone.

There’s no chance of its return until the people threaten their Congressmen with loss of their cushy jobs. Hussein should have been impeached in the Spring of 2009, but it did not happen because we did not demand it.

Keep this in mind if Obama is re-elected he will by pass the Congress and do just what he damn well pleases via exec orders and vetoes. He must be run out of DC on a well tarred and feathered rail.

"First...this is a RESOLUTION...it is not a BILL"

It's not meaningless. It may not be enforceable without the Senate. But it clearly puts Obama on official notice that at least one house of Congress disapproves and why.

If Obama continues to break the law, despite the House's resolution telling him his actions are inappropriate, then it will be easier to impeach him, if we ever get control of the Senate.

>> “if we ever get control of the Senate.” <<

.
Coryn is making sure that never happens, by attacking Todd Akin.
