Linda McMahon in Connecticut: She's Baaaaaack!
American Thinker ^ | 09/22/2012 | By Stuart Schwartz

Linda McMahon, the tenacious and successful business executive, who two years ago beat the Republican establishment in the U.S. Senate primary in Connecticut, is shaping up to be a nightmare for Connecticut Democrats. The candidate for U.S. Senate threatens an upset of their anti-business, redistributionist, and nanny-state agenda in a state they have taken for granted.

In Connecticut, as in neighboring Massachusetts and New York, it's long been what the Democrats want, the Democrats get. But polls show that McMahon has been "unexpectedly" pulling ahead -- mainstream media-speak for "we sure hate to report this, but integrity demands an occasional stab at the truth"-- and offer a ghostly glimpse of the future in the national contest between another successful business executive -- Mitt Romney -- and a president who would feel right at home in this New England state's Democrat establishment.

Indeed: she's baaaaack. That's an adaptation of the line from Poltergeist II: The Other Side, the second in the classic horror film series that featured the chilling catchphrase "They're back." And for the Connecticut political establishment -- think Chicago machine with a hint of clam chowder (regional favorite) -- life appears to be imitating cinema art as the former chief executive officer of $1.2-billion entertainment juggernaut World Wrestling Entertainment is poised to do what seems to media and political elites only supernaturally possible, if at all: beat a Democrat in a deep, deep, deep blue state.

Behind in double-digits two months ago, McMahon is quietly making a race out of it for the seat of retiring U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman (the independent pushed out of the party by the state's increasingly radical Democrat establishment), with the Real Clear Politics poll average showing her about even. And, when you take out of the average the really-seriously-in-the-tank-for-Democrats pollster PPP

“Linda” yard signs are everywhere up here. Very little else in reply. Virtually no “Obama” signs or stickers to be found. Blue State poised for an upset.

RINOS do not solve problems either.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

No, but they are a favorable step in the right direction over the alternative.

Hopefully Romney/Ryan rides on her coattails. I had all but given up on the nutmeg state.

Here in my Southern Hartford suburb, I see Linda signs everywhere. I’ve seen one Chris Murphy sign, a few Romney signs and zero Obama signs. I’m wondering if people in our town are starting to wake up. We voted Tea Party Candidate Joe Markley in, and just recently overturned our locals from Dem to Repub majority. Zeke Zaleski is not running for re-election, due to his DUI. Now we just need to boot John Larson out of the House.

I’m still prepared to be disappointed by the Connecticut voters, however.

RINOS vote against Harry Reid as majority leader.

No Obamacare repeal if GOP remains in the minority. Zip, zero, no chance whatsoever.

The GOP had the majority in the House. They vote for funding Obamacare last week. How did that help?

Has having Scott Brown in the Senate the last 2.5 years helped or hurt?

I’d say helped. A lot. Despite the fact he votes wrong about 20% of the time.

Strom Thurmond or Jim DeMint ain’t winning in these northeastern states. We can either have Chris Dodd voting with the D’s 100% of the time or Linda voting with the R’s 80% of the time. I’ll gladly take Linda.

It is clear that this country is going in the wrong direction but when these idiot GOP’er have the chance to change the direction, they fail. I will begin to believe when the change really begins. RINOS fail every time.

Having driven the streets of Greenwich and New Canaan many times I'm truly astounded by the anti business attitude in that state.Yah,I can understand it in Bridgeport (I've driven through *there* a few times too) but CT is often classified as the richest state in the nation. How did residents get all their money,by printing it in their basements???

Agreed. However, I believe, and no one in Congress can state this at this point, that defunding Obamacare right before the election would be politically detrimental.

I suspect (hope) that if we are blessed with an election sweep of all three branches, that post-election we can deal with this properly.

The RINO Scott Brown being the 41st GOP vote to stop a filibuster prevented Obama from implementing cap and trade and giving amnesty to illegals. And many other very damaging things.

I’ll worry about the post WWII world after we beat the Axis. If we have to align with Russia to do it, so be it.

Right now we need to stop Obama. I don’t really care if the guy fighting next to me isn’t ideologically pure.

boot John Larson out of the House.

John Larson I know personally. The guy is a two-faced SCUMBAG. When I lived in East Hartford, his hometown, I met him at the local supermarket.

He talks conservative at home -- votes like a LIBERAL in DC...

May CT voters get 3 GOP congress people -- in the 2nd, 4th and 5th...

She’s certainly putting the effort into this election. I wish her the best. Could she give us a majority in the senate?
