Below is an extraordinary, heart-stopping and historic letter. It is a letter SSG Matthew Sitton sent to U.S. Rep. C.W. "Bill" Young after his commanders in Afghanistan told him to "quit whining" about orders to lead patrols without objective "through, for lack of a better term, basically a mine field on a daily basis," as Sitton wrote. Twice daily basis, in fact. On August 2, 2012, Sitton and another US soldier were killed in one the IED-riddled field he spoke of. Eighty-one-year-old Rep. Young, who attends the same church in Florida as the Sitton family, this week announced he no longer supports the presence of US troops in Afghanistan and called for their withdrawal in advance of 2014.

People do not know the Rules Of Engagement that our brave warriors must follow. If they did, they would be as outraged as you and I are.
For the life of me I cannot understand how people can cheer and vote for this Traitor In Chief. People who vote for this clown are only thinking of themselves. Everyday they are giving up liberties for a buck made by others. They are to lazy to earn their own way and are jealous of what hard working people have. This poor excuse for a president that occupies the White Mosque and it will be called that if given another 4 years doesn’t care one bit about our troops.
I was at a funeral service yesterday. A close friend of mine suffered a loss of his aunt that he dearly loved. At the service their were plenty of Vets around. His uncle told me that he served in the Navy, another brother served in the Marines, and 2 other brothers served in the Army. When I was leaving I noticed a gentlemen carrying a hat that had Marines on it. When I said Thank You for serving Devil Dog, he turned around and shook my hand with a big smile on his face. He started immediately telling me about his service to our country. From the day he went into the Marines and his fellow warriors who fought next to him. His eyes started to fill with tears and he said he didn’t know why he was the only one who made it back home, except that God must of had a plan for him. These are my hero’s, my mentors in life. They love God & Country.
Beverly, I can tell you that our troops “Thank You” for the support you give them and how you have their backs. I can say this because recently a bunch of Marines asked me to tell you Thank You for how you fought for their voting rights and much more.

Please folks, Make calls to your particular members of Congress and tell them our troops need to come home NOW because under Obama’s lack of leadership they are sitting ducks! Obama’s “Rules of Engagement” make it very difficult for our troops to defend themselves against the enemy. His announcement to the enemy about when our troops will withdraw from Afghanistan has put our troops in even more danger!
We need a Commander In Chief who WILL protect America from our enemies and who will honor and support our Military! Obama’s “Catch and Release” policy is allowing known terrorists to be released to return to the battlefield and kill more of our soldiers. He has been releasing terrorists since he took office, and now he is going to release 55 more from GITMO!
I am sick of this, too. My son has to go back there soon....for what?...so liberal men can stay here and sip their lattes..while our real men get killed....for nothing. In a perfect world, those "commanders," and their higher chain of command as high as it goes, would trigger a series of Courts Martial for treason.

My grandfather was in the 7th I.D. in WWI. My father served on a troop transport and minesweeper during the Korean conflict.
I did a short stint as a volunteer Jr. member in the Civil Air Patrol.
Sadly, I feel the sacrifices of veterans like my father and grandfather will be in vain if we let this traitor trash POS CIC continue to treat our members of the US armed forces in this manner.

I think that we should have left Afghanistan years ago, but, this incident is not one to hang everything on. He didn’t want to take his Soldiers out on patrol. A patrol is not a Rule Of Engagement (ROE). Patrols are actually good things. They help you find out what’s going on outside the base camp. We have entire units in the military dedicated to going out and finding out what’s going on. The bad thing about patrols is that the enemy is out there and will try to kill you. It’s a dilemma: stay in the camp and let the enemy control everything, or get out on patrol and risk casualties. Tough call. I can guarantee you that whoever was in charge of security for that airbase in Afghanistan where they blew up those Harriers and killed the Commanding Officer is wishing that there had been more patrols out. For all the stupid stuff that has gone on there, a Commander who is requiring patrols is actually doing his job. And while it’s usually a good idea to tell American Soldiers why they’re required to do something, it isn’t always necessary or possible to do that. This was a good Soldier. He had a warrior’s heart. But I don’t see where his superiors were wrong. I’ve had my comments removed from Free Republic because of my cursing about what’s going on with our military. (Plant the seed) this (planting the seed) war in Afghanistan!

He was not against going on patrol, but was in need of more men to do it safely and wanted justification for the number of patrols they were required to do per day. His priority was the safety of his men. God Bless his soul.

I could understand active military personnel not taking speaking engagements but retired??? They are retired from the military and I would think are free to do as they wish.
