These quasi-columnist-news writers/propagandists certainly are filling the "pages" of state media. Opinion is reported. News is opinion. I really wasn't sure where to pigeonhole this Front Page Houston Chronicle "Latest News" article by a "Columnist" for the "News." She notes where the video is and to fast- forwarding to the 4:30 mark to the stuff about Obama and Fast and Furious, so as to "come to your own conclusion." She takes a shot at Gov. Perry by repeating an untruth, then wraps it up with a civics lesson about the Constitution, and that judges decide which laws are constitutional. She absolves herself and the Houston Chronicle by saying she's noted a Democratic Party candidate's claim to fame is barratry. She promises more is on the way about Louis Guthrie and teases the story.

If Obama wins, Texas may become our Gault’s Gulch—a heavily armed Gault’s Gulch.

"judges decide which laws are constitutional"

Yes and no. Yes, courts are supposed to rule on the constitutionality of laws. But, no, they are not the only ones to do so, and their opinion is not superior to yours or mine. The oath I took did not say that I would support and defend the Constitution "as defined by the Supreme Court."

NULLIFY!

Is this supposed to be bad publicity?

This is exactly the sort of sheriff every county needs and every citizen should want. If this is “bad publicity”, the problem is not with the press but with the citizenry.

This is the sort of thing I like about local law enforcement folks, the closer they are to the voter and local community the more apt they are to be loyal to the local citizenry in times of crisis.

Whereas LEO’s farther away from a local community, the feds, are more apt to be loyal to the ruling party, political correctness or their job security instead of the Constitution and the tax payers.

It’s obvious the Fed-loving nancies at the Chronicle think that a sheriff standing up FedGov is scandalous, but EVERY CANDIDATE for the office of county sheriff in this land ought to be asked: are you willing to interpose between the FedGov and the citizens to protect their civil rights, including the RKBA?

I haven't read the Carbuncle (or Comical, take your pick) for many years. I won't even take it for free when they're giving it away at the grocery store. While not as radically left as the Austin American-Statistman it's far left of center.
