Obama 48%-Romney 47% in hard-fought presidential race in Florida
Miami Herald ^ | Sept. 24, 2012 | Marc Caputo

President Obama and Mitt Romney are locked in a virtual tie in Florida, according to a Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald/Tampa Bay Times poll that indicates the Democrats’ convention buzz and the Republican’s recent troubles haven’t altered the race in this biggest of battleground states.

Obama is drawing 48 percent support to Romney’s 47 percent among likely voters — a lead well within the poll’s 3.5 percent error margin. Only 4 percent are undecided.

“Despite what some people have tried to claim, this race is still close in Florida,” said Brad Coker, who conducted the Mason-Dixon Polling & Research survey. “It’s very much a toss-up.”

Obama has fought Romney to a standstill over who’s more trustworthy when it comes to the economy. But 51 percent say they’re not better off than they were four years ago, while 41 percent say they are.

The president is also up by 6 percentage points when it comes to foreign policy — even after the attacks on a Middle East embassy and consulate that left four Americans dead.

Party affiliation of poll, vs actual registration?

I do not like the feeling that I have had for a long tine now: that Obama will get a 2nd term. Just do not feel Romney can pull it off. Things may just be so bad that most voters will stay with Obama and not chance it with Romney.

scanned through it and found nothing...this is troubling:

“Obama, however, could have a crucial edge: the support of independent voters, who often decide elections in swing-state Florida. Independents back the president by 11 percentage points more than Romney. That’s a six-point shift since the last Mason-Dixon poll in July.”

then again

“The survey was taken just as Romney suffered the fallout of a leaked hidden video of the candidate making disparaging remarks about the 47 percent of taxpayers who pay no federal income tax.”

Ahmanutjob doubled down on Holocaust denial at the UN today. Israelis walked out, but the US reps stuck around listening to the nutjob. Meanwhile, Baraq Hussein Kardashian yuks it up with Whoopi Goldberg.

That oughta go over real well with Jewish voters in FLA & elsewhere.

“51 percent say they’re not better off than they were four years ago, while 41 percent say they are.

That doesn’t bode well for the None when people are in the voting booth choosing which lever to push: do I really want 4 more years of THIS?

Don’t “feel” anything. Use the tools of thought and reason.

But then there is this:

If the same proportion of Republicans, Democrats and independents cast ballots in 2012 compared to 2008 — a high watermark for Democrats — Romney could have the edge on Election Day, the poll indicates.

...I am wondering if there was a typo? Seems to imply the poll was assuming a larger turn out for Democrats than they had in 2008? But then how can Obama be up 11 percent in poll among Independents and still only win by 1 overall if this is so? Incomplete data...and the data provided seems not to fit together.

If Jews seeing Dems at the DNC Convention booing Israel didn’t convince them that the Dem party does not give a damn about Israel nothing will..unfortunately with many Jews Israel is not something they think or care about, its ideology first, Israel comes dead last

Where is Karl Rove, who said only Romney can win? Obama should be getting his butt kicked, but rove, Romney, coulter,.....decided they want a rino and were willing to lose many true conservatives so they could get romney. Now they have their leftie; he's just further left than they expected. They gave conservatives the finger in the primary. Now Conservatives are giving the rinos the finger back.

I think many of these polls are assuming 110% Dem turnout over 08. Not gonna happen. Wouldn’t be prudent.

Mason Dixon has historically been the gold standard in state polling.

Relatively good news for Romney, although he still has much work to do.

You actually believe a St Pete Slimes poll??
These creeps had Rick Scott. Losing by 5 pts on Election Day !!!
Yes , somehow the actual vote swing 6 pts in 12 hours and he won !!!

The polls cooked by the left wing rags in Fl are as slanted as they come !
One year Jeb Bush was neck
and neck with some crook of a trial lawyer from Tampa on Election Day but he won the very next day by 12 pts !!

Are you do naive to think this same poll would have looked any different for any other GOP candidate ???
These are same cooked polls which ignore the new FL Id laws and voter roll clean
Up and Gov Scott will not keep the polls open non stop like Crist did in 2008 .
It’s two FL left wing rags in Fl cooking up the usual AstroTurf that has been done my entire life .

Obama will lose Florida. This “poll” doesn’t reflect reality and anyone who believes it should have their head examined.
