Paul Ryan says reversal of DADT repeal is step in wrong direction

MIAMI -- One year after the repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy that barred openly gay and lesbian service members from serving in the military, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) said in an interview with WPTV NewsChannel 5 that the controversial policy should not be reinstated.

"Now that it's done, we should not reverse it," Ryan told WPTV NewsChannel 5 during a visit to Miami. "I think that would be a step in the wrong direction because people have already disclosed themselves."

Ryan was one of 160 Republicans and 15 Democrats in the House of Representatives to vote against the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" in 2010.

"I talked to a lot of good friends of mine who are combat leaders in the theater and they just didn't think the timing of this was right to do this when our troops were in the middle of harm's way in combat," Ryan said. "I think this issue is past us. It's done. And, I think we need to move on."

The comment came after progressive groups criticized Ryan, the candidate for vice president, for an appearance at the 2012 Values Voters Summit and accused him of being "out of step" with the views of young Americans.

America is dead and gone. The final nail in the coffin was the 2008 election of an African communist as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Hey, America had a great run... remember it fondly for what it was. There’s no point hanging onto the past. The upcoming election is meaningless.

The United States of America is now little more than a land mass populated by cretins, ingrates, and parasites who have absolutely no respect for the military and who vote for big government to confiscate money from their neighbors so that it may be “redistributed” to them in exchange for their votes. It is not an America worth defending anymore. That America no longer exists.

The parasites outnumber the hosts now, and there’s no going back. America is dead.
The Democrats have won.

Nothing lasts forever (shrug) and there’s no point crying or whining about it. My recommendation to every decent human left out there is to throw some cold water in your face and proceed to ‘Plan B’. Figure out how to grab every government dime you possibly can before the parasites who comprise the Democrat party “base” gobble it all up. Look for angles. Look for refuge. Hide what you have. Get under the radar and game the system. Every man for himself.

Good luck, everybody.

I have a feeling Ryan will start walking this statement back within 48 hours.

Especially since the very influential Ralph Reed was on TV tonight announcing the start of a program for a get-out-the-vote crusade beamed to the Evangelical Right.

Talk about the Evangelicals being blind-sided by Ryan on the same day.

I haven't served, but the repeal of DADT has already proven that homosexuals were serving in the military and were already in those sleeping quarters. I would expect there are still policies that would punish anyone for engaging or attempting to engage in lewd activity.

Every guy who has ever serve has known that there were homos in the military. But those homos kept it very, very quiet. Why? Because otherwise they'd be booted. The difference now is that the homos can be as open as they want, and if the regular guys say anything about it, it's the regular guys who get punished. All you have to do to see what's coming to the military is to look at what's happened to corporate America since all of this pro-gay and feminist nonsense - corporate America is now one of the most PC areas of society. So it shall be with the military.

The way this country has descended into depravity and stupidity, not only would I never serve in the military now, but it makes me regret that I ever put my ass on the line for this country of spoiled, worthless, amoral, degenerates.

Well some are protected on high like this Lt. Col who was caught hitting on an enlisted in Afghan. Keep in mind this chick was a squadron commander, who needed to be eventually babysat until her replacement arrived (Who was not very happy). She should be locked up but as far as I could tell the chick went right back to her previous assignment Stateside.

Of course this is anecdotal and the press does not mention these inefficient problems so all is well in same sex disorder land. Whatever, better to pretend no one knows and keep a lid on the perversion but I guess we are just too enlightened by our own good. Same goes for females with long tours on ships and subs, they won't get pregnant, no way, impossible, lol.

How about an “everyone shut the hell up about your sexual escapades or you’re discharged” policy?

Shouldn’t be discussing that stuff at work anyway.

“Paul Ryan says reversal of DADT repeal is step in wrong direction “

Triple Negative. Animal Farm ... here we come.
Yes, I’m on your side. But this language is a reflection of the collective hypnosis, sucks that this is part of the conversation. Sucks for Paul that he has to talk this way.

Meta-comment :-)

I can sort of almost a little bit respect the libs who sincerely support the gay agenda (military and all the rest of it).

But Ryan DID oppose it. He knows it’s wrong. Now he’s saying, “We made one try, that’s enough, getting the policy reversed now would be hard work, so the hell with it.”

This is “leadership” in today’s Washington, D.C.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT RYAN MEANT, AND OF THE ALL THE ISSUES AT HAND.

Stop with the distractions, already, and concentrate on dragging the sorry azz of obozo out of OUR White House. We have bigger fish to fry...don't play into marxist’s hands with negative comments about Ryan and Romney. Later for this subject...right now, concentrate, focus, make sure people are registered and have transportation to the polls, and volunteer at the polls, protect OUR vote...first things first.

Let this issue, like many others rest for another day. Homosexuals are not an immediate threat to my life. OBOZO IS A THREAT TO OUR LIVES RIGHT NOW AND WE MUST CONCENTRATE ON REMOVING HIM IN NOVEMBER.

Stop with the negative commentary. We don't need people folding up like cheap tents. You'll know when the “end” is here when the bombs hit your head. Until then, get out there and remove oboma in November, make sure people are registered to vote and offer them transportation if needed, volunteer at the polls, become active in POSITIVE efforts to make this a win in November.

Stop with the hand wringing and the whoa is me crap. Sure, I agree, do what is best to benefit you, and in the meantime get involved in making this a win in Nombember by kicking the azz of the obozo out of OUR White House.

I hate to tell all of you this, but the military has been one of the most PC orgs in the government, precisely because they are the government.

It was true when my husband was in the Navy, from 1969 - 1974, and it is even more so now.

It’s why he resigned his commission.

Back when I was in the Corps you would get Court Marshaled and Dishonorably Discharged for that behavior. It was called Moral Turpitude, guess they are going to have to rewrite the UCMJ.
While they are at it they might just as well legalize fragging, because it is going to happen. If we had had a known fag in our hooch, he would have had a fatal accident in the field.

So does that go for Obamacare as well?

Obamacare is so the rest of us can pick up the tab for the AIDS drugs and God-only-knows-what-else for the GiBLeTs.

It was never about granny's pre-existing conditions.

We're already paying for Medicaid, it's only the people who will fund it or be fined who are stuck in the middle ground of not being rich enough to afford it and not being poor enough to have it given to them, and there are a lot of self-employed folks caught in that group.

Mitt Romney wanted to end DADT, as far back as 1994.

"One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clinton’s “don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t pursue” military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share."
Mitt Romney
