Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan said Tuesday in Ohio that NFL referees reminded him of President Obama on the economy, "if you can't get it right, get out." NFL replacement referees are under fire for a controversial call made at the end of the Packers-Seahawks game, yesterday. Ryan also joked that the NFL refs worked part-time in Obama administration's budget office, "they see the national debt clock starring them in the face, they see a debt crisis and they just ignore and pretend it didn’t even happen. They are trying to pick the winners and losers and they don’t even do that very well.”

I disagree. I’m a Minnesota Viking fan and even I acknowledge that Green Bay got screwed by that last call. Seattle coaches should man up and come out and admit that after further review, the refs got it wrong and they shouldn’t have been given the win. I won’t hold my breath for that to happen though.
Think about the end regulation in the Lion’s game. The commentators were yelling “knock it down”.
That’s what they should have been saying in the Green Bay game. Instead, they had an agenda, to ridicule the non-union refs.
I’m not saying it wasn’t a bad call, but their bias was showing.
Why should Seattle say or do anything? They did everything right on the play - the QB bought time and lofted the pass into the crowd like you’re supposed to do on a Hail Mary. The receiver fought for the ball after pushing off, again, like you’re supposed to do on the last play of the game. It’s not their job to referee the game or turn down bad calls in their favor. On all 3 Green Bay scoring drives the refs made bad calls that hurt Seattle. I am no Seahawk fan but they played to win and would have had to live with the results of the game either way. So does Green Bay - they were lucky to even have the lead as they received bad calls in their favor as well all game. If they got one first down on their last offensive drive or Benson didn’t fumble the ball 6 yards backward then Seattle would have never even had the ball at the end with a chance. Yes it was a bad call but to say Seattle needs to apologize for it is silly.
Yeah, I know he’s from Wisconsin. Duh. Doesn’t matter though, every football fan I’ve talked to, even anti-Packer fans, recognize that the officiating, especially the very last call was grossly unjust and blatently wrong. You don’t have to be from Wisconsin to recognize that.
I never said that Seattle should “apologize.” The football players job is to do their best (inside the rules) to achieve victory. Yes, most Seattle players were doing that (Wilson for sure), but that doesn’t excuse away the FACT that the replacement refs totally gave the win to Seattle on that last horrible call.
As a coach, I would come out and not just tell the news that my team didn’t earn the win after the replay, but I would confront my team about it as well. Lying to yourself about a victory doesn’t make you stronger. I’ve seen teams beat their chest and gloat about meaningless wins only to get over confident, fail to fix real problems and get their asses handed to them when it really counted. If Seattle doesn’t deal with this gaffe honestly, they will crumble to the same fate. Mark my words.
Now, all of the above doesn’t mean that both teams played great the whole game or that both teams played totally crappy the whole game, but both teams have a lot of serious work to do if they want to be honest contenders. Green Bay may now have a slight advantage because their record right now will not let them over look their problems, but Seattle really can’t build upon a false win.
I didn't say he is from Wisconsin, I said he is still running for Congress in Wisconsin. If a bad call helped the Packers, in no way would he have made this statement and offended his base.

Well, that is an unknown. It’s probably more likely that he would have been quiet if a similar call went Green Bays way, but I doubt it.
I happen to live in Wisconsin and most of the Green Bay fans are not just fans of the Packers but fans of good football. They will usually admit when they got lucky or a bad call went their way. No real football fan wants to see a game decided by completely horrific calls and that game last night was full of horrific calls both ways, but that last one was the worst I have ever seen.
