MSNBC: Obama should be meeting with the NFL to resolve replacement refs issue

An MSNBC guest this morning suggested that President Obama should meet with the NFL to resolve the issue surrounding the replacement refs, after a weekend of mistakes culminated in a controversial call during a Green Bay Packers game against the Seattle Seahawks.

As the news hosts wrapped up a segment discussing Obama’s failure to meet with foreign leaders, they switched subjects to talk about the NFL replacement refs.

“Why aren’t we trashing NFL officials?” Chuck Todd asked, as host Joe Scarborough was wrapping up a segment criticizing Obama.

“Sorry, I’m like frothing at the mouth, I couldn’t sleep until two in the morning,” Todd said, known to be a “rabid” Packers fan. The Packers were on the losing end of a controversial touchdown call, that the refs gave to the Seahawks.

“That’s the meeting that the president should be having today, meeting with the NFL,” guest Eugene Robinson said.

Why should any president be involved to resolve an internal issue in sports, or any industry?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No, no. He and his Moose should be meeting with the hags on The View to talk about how he is “eye-candy”.
(I wish to God I had to use the sarc tag - but this is true. Sad but true.)
Isn’t is funny how failure refs create an united outrage across this country but a failure President doesn’t?
If only we demanded the same “integrity” choosing our leaders as we do in NFL referees.
But then he'd have to meet with every sports organization.
As bad is the replacement refs are, having Obama try to solve this will only make things worse.
The country is in the tank and MSNBC is discussing about sports.
So much for media having it’s mind on world events.
"MSNBC: Obama should be meeting with the NFL to resolve replacement refs issue"
YES! Seriously I want to see that happen. Especially if he still won't meet with Netanyahu or his Jobs Council Goobers.
This is what happens when the NFL is run like the government. Lucy, Charlie Brown, and a football. Bad idea all around.
They shouldn't, but there is a precedent. Teddy Roosevelt intervened in football and advocated changing the rules to make it less violent. They did, including allowing forward passes.
Actually, it’s sad to say but if he stepped in and the issue got resolved by the election, it would be a huge plus for the One. That’s just the way it is.
Hey Rush is right! The NFL is just following Obama’s chant of “everyone gets a shot! The hell with experience, competence etc. Look at the police and fire depts. people who are out of shape, dumb etc. just because they fit the template.
Why should any president be involved to resolve an internal issue in sports....
Because he knows this makes him look cool rather than having to address the nation's really tough issues.(after all, that is what is important to his legions of youth voters)
