A Santa Clara elementary school principal charged Monday with six drug counts also had 10 hidden cameras in his San Francisco apartment, including one in a teddy bear, according to a police report.
Eric Lewis, 42, was arrested Thursday at the Caltrain station at 4th and King streets in San Francisco on charges of furnishing methamphetamine and GHB, a date-rape drug, to an undercover drug officer.
They also found 10 mini cameras inside a bedroom closet, including at least one that was hidden as the nose of a teddy bear. Other cameras were concealed in a coat hanger, a lighter and a watch, among other things.
Investigators found no evidence that any of Lewis' alleged activities involved Montague Elementary School in Santa Clara, where he was principal for the last seven years. Lewis did send texts related to drug furnishing while he was at work at Montague, the report said.

Taking wagers on the over/under on him keeping his pension.
In other words, while conducting a search of the premises, police officers found 10 items which were not illegal to possess or use, and which had no known relationship or bearing whatsoever with the reason behind the search, but they made sure to inform the public of that find, and the press willingly touted the find in the headline of an article, in order to suggest some kind of wrongdoing beyond the alleged offenses for which the individual was charged, despite the absence of any evidence of such additional wrongdoing.

Although if forced to choose between considering the limits of police power, versus reaching for their next handful of popcorn... most "Americans" add more butter...
there was a guy taken into custody after a stranger danger alert to the police in MN. a 20something guy was driving a white panel van that matched the description was brought in on suspicion. the news broke that he had duct tape, condoms, a camera, a tarp and a paintball gun inside the van so he had to be guilty. turned out it wasnt him but the news continued asking why he had that stuff in his van.
right now i have duct tape, a camera, a couple of tarps a captain america face mask and who knows what else in the back of my pick-up, i am wondering what i am up to!
Very well stated!
Well....the Captain America mask is a dead-giveaway. :-)
In all seriousness, if you were parked on my street in a panel van with duct tape, condoms, a camera, etc etc .... AND (and this is important) you didn't live anywhere around there .... I'd want to know what you were up to. I'd hope that if you lived next door to me, you'd feel the same way about the situation.
For instance, in my old neighborhood, the cops nailed a guy who'd been doing break-ins for some time. Caught him walking down the street, at 1 am, while carrying a TV.
Now, he was on public way. Had every right to be there. Maybe he might have been completely innocent, an eccentric millionaire taking his TV for a midnight walk. But, the cops, knowing that there'd been a rash of break-ins in the area, and knowing that people generally don't walk around carrying large-screen TV's after midnight... well, they put 2+2 together and nailed the guy.
IMHO, good police work is just being smart. It only takes one idiot to destroy the reputations of the whole bunch, though.
had no problem with a guy being questioned for something that he fit the description for, it was the media making a huge fuss over trivial items that are common in any young man’s vehicle that i was referring to. if i remember right, the condoms were found in his glove compartment, the tape in a tool box and he was coming back from playing paintball with his friends.
no body is suspicious of a beat up ol’blue ford pick-up around my neck of the woods, dont know why someone would drive a creeper van unless they absolutely had to!
American-Made muscle cars, jeeps, and anything built in Detroit pre-, say 1970, is acceptable as well. :-)
