The company has to follow federal law regarding hiring and workplace non-discrimination.

What a CEO or owner does on his own time with his own dime is none of their business.

Libs sure have an odd view of free speech.

We were told that these organizations included groups that politically work against the rights of gay and lesbian people.

What "rights" do gay and lesbian people have that others do not... and vice versa?

I still need to introduce legislation to make the Chick-fil-A in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago a reality.

Definitely a threat.

WinShape, the Cathy's foundation to help children and marriages is not a political organization. They support groups that teach/counsel/assist marriages and families.

Focus on the Family, for example, works with Marriage and Family, and they are not a political organization. Focus on the Family does, however, have traditional views on Marriage and Family that they are not ashamed to broadcast.

The are, however, not supposed to endorse candidates, etc., which means they are not a political organization.

This is stupid:

For the FIRST TIME in the company’s history the company wrote and distributed a document to all of its employees titled, “Chick-fil-A: Who We Are” that guarantees that the company and its employees will “treat every person with honor, dignity and respect- regardless of their beliefs, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender.”

They are a Christian business, the company and its employees do not need a document to TELL THEM to “treat every person with honor, dignity and respect- regardless of their beliefs, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender.”

Besides, they needed to have similar documents on file for years to meet all of the government's oversight and for lawsuit protection.

There is no shame with these people.

CFA’s PR people put out a note early on that they’d “leave the political etc to the politicians....”

So This Moron twists that to get blood.

1) They will review giving to political groups.
-—TWISTED: They will not give to political groups.

2) They will not give to political groups.
-—TWISTED: Marriage is a political issue now.

3) Marriage is a political issue now.
-—TWISTED: CFA will not give to pro-marriage groups.

And if CFA tries to set the record straight, then they’re either liars (libs win) or their base drops them (libs win).

Tails they win, heads we lose.

Notice the wording as well - the “rights of gay and lesbian people.”

They already HAVE these rights that somehow have been taken from them. Fact is, they or anyone else has never had the right to marry anyone of any age or gender or familial relationship despite current marital status.

The “rights” talk is to end all debate, as is the annoying “civil rights” branding. “It’s a civil rights issue” = all debate is over.

WTF is some low-rent alderman doing demanding documents and statements with political "confessions" from private interests?

Somewhere along the line, the little Nazi came to believe that he can scuttle businesses that don't think/speak/act as he would like them to. He needs to be disabused of that notion.

If Cathy was smart, he'd hire some shark lawyer to take a a GIANT s*** on this guy. Then dump a million dollars on this alderman's opponant the next time he runs for office.

I said this last week - I’ll say it this week - and probably in the weeks to come:

The gay mafia and its butt-buddies in the media will lie and distort the truth every time. And if Mr. Cathy and Chick-fil-A don’t IMMEDIATELY deny the lies?

Then it must be true. (Look at the CFA threads last week. It was disgusting how many FReepers swallowed these lies and hated on CFA)

So what happens? CFA - in due course - PROVES the queers are wrong. And that settles everything right? (Insert hugh sarc tag here).

Look; the homo nazi’s will not let up. They are relentless in smearing CFA and anyone else who dares to speak the truth to their faggotry. It’s no coincidence this is happening in Obammie-Town. A liberal s-hole known for Chicago thuggery.

What’s next? Word will soon leak out that Dan Cathy has had sex with _______________ (you fill in the blank)

Lies. It’s what these pervs do.

This is utterly criminal. A politician is openly making it impossible for a business to open, unless they guarantee what they do with their profits. Boycotts, fine. But denial of equal government services based upon beliefs is utter totalitarianism.

He deserves absolutely anything that happens to him. He is as bad as any nazi or stalinist thug.

I have never seen such a brazen attempt to supress speech. This is an absolute civil rights violation. In some situations, such violators can be sued personally.

Historically thinking here about this. A Stalinist commissar walked onto a kulaks farm, and announces that we are confiscating your crop. A Nazi mayor and police chief openly lets a jewish shop owner be terrorized and vandalized.
The citizen’s only recourse becomes an appeal to honest courts.

If this is denied, who would say that the Kulak or Jewish Shop owner is not completely within his rights to use violence against the oppressor? It might not be effective, and it is against Cathy’s christian philosophy. However, one cannot deny that seen through the lens of history, this politician is doing something that if it occurred in another nation or era, we would immediately agree that he deserves a violent response.

The only thing, is that i still think Cathy would instantly and easily prevail in a lawsuit. I hope he does sue. But the smart thing would probably be to take his stores to communities that welcome him, and go to Chicago and announce that the jobs and good food will not be available because of Moreno. And then totally fund a good opponent.

Moreno originally moved to the neighborhood with his partner because of the vibrant art and music scene and his appreciation and support of local artists has expanded since he took office

His father is Mexican and his mother is from Moline, Illinois. His Mexican Grandfather received citizenship after he fought in World War II and jumped on D-Day.

Everyone must think like him or stay out of his Ward!

Thuggery...

Moreno vows to use ‘aldermanic privilege’ to keep Chick-fil-A out of his ward.

“When we look at zoning and we look at having businesses in our ward we have to look at whether they’re responsible actors. And responsibility means not being discriminatory,” Ald. Moreno said.

Should the personal opinions of a company owner affect that owner’s right to do business in Chicago? City aldermen are divided on the question, but Moreno has some support from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

“Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values. They’re not respectful of our residents, our neighbors or our family members,” Mayor Emanuel said.

If we give him this power, then how can we stop another alderman from protecting the turf of an Al Capone from businesses that might threaten his criminal enterprise?

Imagine if a city somewhere else refused to let JC Penny locate there because they put out that gay fathers day ad? How fast would the justice dept initiate a civil rights lawsuit?

Good analysis, DR. It is not unbiblical to sue unbelievers, and Moreno is an obvious unbeliever. But I also like the response of leaving the state completely. There is already an existing CFA in Chicago, from what I understand. What a powerful statement it would make to not only refuse to open another store, but to close the existing one and leave with the potential tax money it would generate.

And as a symbolic biblical gesture, Dan Cathy could shakes some dust from his feet while he’s leaving.

The 1st Ward is shaped like a fishhook snagging parts of Wicker Park, Bucktown and Logan Square. It also snags two disparate constituencies: younger whites who migrated to Chicago from elsewhere in the Midwest and Latinos who grew up in local schools, churches and the Democratic machine.

Moreno was in negotiations with Chick-fil-A about whether he would continue to use his power on the city council to block a restaurant from coming to his neighborhood.

******

The alderman has also proposed or sponsored progressive initiatives like on-street bike parking, banning plastic bags at large stores and decriminalizing marijuana.

******

Although I am not a police officer, it is my job as alderman to help insure public safety. I routinely go on drive-arounds with my commanders and have, numerous times, knocked on the doors of problem housing to let them know their behavior is not tolerated and they are being watched by me, my staff, and my organization.

Press Here

Romney is the worst presidential candidate in my lifetime. The Obama campaign is sharing my political office and I expect to be knocking on doors with my organization in Indiana again this time around.

March 20, 2012

Alderman Moreno wrote a piece on the Huffington Post titled “Joe Moreno: The Case for Supporting Me.”

In the piece he explains why he thinks that the current ward committeeman should be replaced by him, He deliberately leaves out Jesse Ruben Juarez’s name out of the entire piece.

He gives Anne Shaw the same treatment and the piece shows Moreno’s low regard for women, and specifically for Anne Shaw. He also belittles her campaign message about working to save the 13th district police station. Here is what Moreno wrote about Anne Shaw and below that is Anne Shaw’s response.

The other candidate running for the committeeman position clearly does not understand (or care) what a Democratic committeeman does. She moved from the suburbs nine years ago, but only started voting in the 1st Ward in 2010. Her campaign is entirely based on the incitement of fear and a revolting cynicism, which has been polluting our politics for decades. She pretends that if she is elected committeeman a police station, which is to be closed because of the budget (something I also wrote a blog about) would stay open. It wouldn’t.

More importantly, Democratic committeemen have zero say on municipal budgets, nor do they have any involvement whatsoever in matters of public safety. For someone to base an entire campaign on spreading misinformation and trying to create an us vs. them dynamic in our community, upsets me greatly.

A committeeman’s only tasks are to slate candidates, replace outgoing members of the Illinois State House and increase voter participation. I will do all these things by continuing to strengthen the bonds of our communities.

Anne Shaw’s response to Moreno:

Moreno and his people want to portray me as a woman who doesn’t know what a committeeman does, while he “schools” the people by telling them what he thinks is best for them, which is for him to consolidate his power. He uses the term consolidation on his campaign literature as if it’s a good thing for the people of the 1st Ward. This is simply not the case.

I know what a committeeman does and I know that Moreno is not the right person for this job. Moreno maintains two jobs already. He works full time for Buhl, Inc. a printing company and recently also gave himself a raise as the alderman. The 1st Ward needs someone who is dedicated to this tough job. The 1st Ward has one of the lowest voter turn outs in Chicago at 16%. For example, in the last mayoral election only about 10,000 people voted out of over 50,000 residents in the 1st Ward. Alderman Moreno was elected by only about 7000 voters. Moreno misses the most crucial part in his description of a committeeman’s job and that is to increase voter turnout and registration. He benefited from low voter turnout.

Moreno is wrong that a committeeman has zero influence and he knows it, otherwise why would he want to become the committeeman.
