Morsi wants free speech linked to responsibility
Associated Press ^ | Sept. 25, 2012 | DIAA HADID

NEW YORK (AP) -- Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi said freedom of expression must be used responsibly in a speech Tuesday to the Clinton Global Initiative in New York that hinted at looming tensions in the newly-democratic nation.

Morsi, a key figure of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, repeated several times that he was the "first, democratically elected, civilian president of Egypt" and earned applause by asking his audience to "see a new Egypt."

OK, as long as I’m the one who gets to decide what is responsible.

Morsi can take his idea of prior restraint and shove it up (where the sun don’t shine). Free speech means offensive ideas are free to be presented.

All right, I am happy to be responsible. Who in their right mind would voluntarily adopt Islam? And who wants to associate with the few people who would do such a thing? Not me.

Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech

If anyone attempts to abridge our freedom of speech, that person is violating one of our most fundamental God-given human rights along with one of our most fundamental human rights. Such an attempt to control free people falls into the category "Casus belli" - a cause or justification for war. I don't think even Obama would go that far, not until after the election when he promises to have more flexibility.

What a farce. Someone who expresses an opinion is now responsible for the actions of someone who hears the opinion?

Well, now if some looney American goes off on them b/c they said, I don’t know, maybe “Islam”, it will be the fault of the person who said “Islam” that the looney American killed several, dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of innocents?

Whatever. Barbarians in thinking and actions they are. Dogs, really. No, pigs. Yeah pigs. And shoe soles too.

pffffft

Oops, I meant to say: If anyone attempts to abridge our freedom of speech, that person is violating one of our most fundamental God-given human rights along with one of our most fundamental legal rights. Such an attempt to control free people falls into the category “Casus belli” - a cause or justification for war. I don’t think even Obama would go that far, not until after the election when he promises to have more flexibility.

Our freedoms are not up for negotiation.
Still, why does it feel like that is exactly what is going on?
It feels like “we” are trying to compromise with people who give to craps about our way of life?

I truly hate the often heard assertions that rights come with responsibilities. While in a very limited sense it’s true, mostly it is not. Rights are absolute, and not conditional.
My freedom of speech is not ever to be tempered because some lunatic will go into a berserk rage and murder people.

My only responsibility is to say just what i please. No “responsibilities” were written into the 1st amendment.
This concept is the main frontal attack of those who want to diminish my rights.

Even the vaunted “fire in a crowded theater” everyone solomly invokes was a case where the Wilson administration wanted to imprison people for handing out handbills opposing the draft. So even their most famous example is crap.

Islamists (political Islam, sharia law advocates) have no relevant status to speak of responsibility vis-a-vis inalienable rights.

Their "law" is what they claim their god says -- our Creator could not possibly ordain such horrors and deaths as Islamists cause people to suffer.

This man does have the status to advise us about free speech..

Patrick Henry: ". . . in proportion to the magnitude of the subject [there must] be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that [you] can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should [you] keep back [your] opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, [you] should consider [your]self as guilty of treason towards my country . . . Are [you] disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? . . . whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, [you must be] willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it."

Americans need to be flooding their local media, blogs, local pols and fed /big counterparts with emails/letters saying that we will not comply with muslim Sharia/whatever attacks on free speech.

Nor will we comply with governmental curbs on free speech.

Period.

The government keeps pushing because they do not believe we are prepared for war - flexibility or not.

The government believes we will never make an offensive move.

The government believes we will never make a defensive move.

The government believes we will slide passively into slavery.

The government has overstepped its boundaries not without question, but certainly without action.

The government will pretty soon have us fear free speech, so there goes any questioning.

The government does not believe that we will take action, as is our right under the constitution.

The government does not believe CWII will happen no matter what they do.

The Government believes that places like FreeRepublic are merely outlets where upstarts blow off a little steam - talk big - act angry - this, they believe, they will control

So what do we believe?

Better yet, what are we gonna do about it?

Hey Mohammed Morsi.... I for one would be pleased to no longer speak an unkind word about muslims, as long as I never have to see them, hear them or be given a reason to think about them.

I would be more than happy to leave you sand monkeys to your daily sexual perversions of having sex with camels and goats. Heck, if you want to keep praying to Allah Snack-bar and worship a pedophile, Mohammed Alibaba, far be it from me to be judgmental.

Bottom line, get your freaks of nature out of my life and I will stay out of yours. Honest, I have never in my life hunted down moquettes, I just smash the ones that screw with me.

Deal?

Years ago we fought Russians for the friendship of ME countries. Let's send the Russians a letter saying 'have at it - they're yours'.

We're fighting for the right to own a white elephant - - an angry one...

Modern cultures don't need backward hostile cultures as 'friends'... and we don't to send them any more money either. Let's call it quits and cut our losses.

I see the media is STILL FLOGGING that attacks in Libya were in response to a barely seen internet video.

Morsi called for limits on free speech, without providing details, saying the violent protests over an anti-Islam video required "some reflection." The protests have killed dozens of people, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, since they began last week.

asking his audience to "see a new Egypt."

13 Yet thus saith the Lord God; At the end of forty years will I gather the Egyptians from the people whither they were scattered:
14 And I will bring again the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their habitation; and they shall be there a base kingdom.
15 It shall be the basest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself any more above the nations: for I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations.
Ezek 29:13-15 KJV

And a base nation it has been, and a base nation it is, and a base nation it shall remain; over run by the base members of a base religion.

I don’t believe one word out of this lying pos’s mouth concerning free speech and rights. Any person who is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood is just another fascist b.....d. While there is an element of the Egyptian population (maybe 20-30%) that does believe in the western ideals of free speech and the rest, they’re heavily outnumbered by the many illiterate and violent Egyptians who favor jihad and crushing liberty.
