How to debate President Obama
Human Events ^ | 9/26/12 | Newt Gingrich

Posted on 09/26/2012 5:02:40 AM PDT by Evil Slayer

The upcoming Presidential debate on October 3 is the most important single event in Mitt Romney’s political career.

The elite news media is doing everything they can to convince Romney’s supporters that the election is lost.

Americans will be tuning in that evening to see if Governor Romney turns this media narrative on its head.

This will be the first time Americans will see President Obama and his challenger side by side.

This will be the largest audience to watch the two men side by side without editing or distortion by the media. If Romney wins this debate, the next debate will have an even larger audience. If he loses it, the elite media will be giddy in its intense reporting of an Obama victory and the Obama team will be giddy and energized by the proclamation of victory.

The media will attempt to pounce on a strong Obama debate and try to bring back up Bain Capital, 47 percent, income tax returns and a host of wounds as perceived by the left.

On the other hand, a Romney victory will destroy the false media narrative that is determined to avoid President Obama’s failure. Suddenly, unemployment over 8 percent, gasoline rising from $1.89 when Obama was elected to $3.89 today, massive deficits, Obamacare, weakness in foreign policy and a host of other failures will rush to the forefront.

Obviously a lot depends on this debate.

And much of the outcome depends on events and actions which are not part of normal debate preparation.

I have been observing Presidential debates since the very first debates in 1960 between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon.

Sometimes the outcome of a debate can turn on the most trivial thing.

Richard Nixon vs. John Kennedy

In 1960 then-Vice President Richard Nixon turned down professional

Why is the debate so important? We already know that the media will say that Obama won the debate, easily. And, since so few people actually will watch the debate, it is a slam dunk for Obama that he has already won the debate...just ask ABC, CBS, MSNBC, NBC and MSNBC.

You're absolutely right.

I can see it now...

Romney: "The economy is terrible. The deficit is too big."
Obama: "I've been to all 57 er... states including OIHO and well, the film-makers acted stupidly - Allah's prophet must not be insulted, um... what's an economy?"

NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, BBC, REUTERS, NY TIMES... etc:

"ROMNEY GAFFE!"

True. Whatever Romney said will be declared a GAFFE. But again, the press keeps overplaying their hand. They immediately pounced on Romney’s comments on the Cairo apology as a GAFFE, but the American public doesn’t see it that way.

Also, I don’t think Zero has EVER had a challenging debate in his life. He has never had to answer tough questions, and if Romney treats Zero the way he did Gingrich in the debates, I think Zero is going to blow up or be obviously rattled. Zero is very thin-skinned. (oops — that makes me a racist for saying ‘thin-skinned’)

Yup. Plus the questions will be loaded against Romney. He can't possibly 'win'. Best we can hope for is to hold his own. Also while all the above are going to come up with 'gaffes' for their headlines for the following few weeks, hopefully there won't be anything that will get a lot of traction.

OK, I did not see one item about Obama thwarting the Constitution's orders for the President.

How about: "I believe in our Constitution. This means that I will honor my oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. I will honor the Constitution's intent by charging the Legislature with proposing laws, instead of avoiding the constitutional process by using executive orders. As the Constitution orders the President to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed," I will hold the Department of Justice responsible for enforcing the law, not changing it. I will be a president who honors the Constitution, the liberty it gives us, and the spirit of independence that fostered this great nation of ours."

That's what I want to hear in the debate from Mr. Romney.

I hope Romney has the ‘kihones’ to take the gloves off during the debates and say THERE YOU GO AGAIN! It would bring the house down. And the press would cry foul, but it would be a thumb in eye to Zero. And it would get traction, and people would start to repeat it. And if the lame-stream wants to cry GAFFE then it would just give it more attention, and just like the Cairo GAFFE, people would see it for the truth.

Also, I don’t think Zero has EVER had a challenging debate in his life.

He hasn't ... and Romney had plenty of time 'under fire' during the primary debates. Obozo's head is so large with the importance of his own Obamaness, I don't think he'll be able to resist his lecturing, preachy mode ... he won't be able to hide his ego and arrogance. Personally, I find the guy offensive ... nobody in our family can stand to watch him. An uncle (ex-Navy pilot) has taken to screaming at the TV and making suggestions that include a trip to DC that I won't repeat here, to the extent that his wife is seriously worried about his health. This is the effect Obozo is having on non-liberal-diseased brains so if Romney looks calm, collected, shows leadership and can explain himself well, I think he'll do just great & President 'bump-in-the-road', 'you-didn't-build-that', redistributionist Obozo might find out he's not the know-all, end-all, be-all he thinks he is.

The first debate has to be the turning point.
Mittens must turn into an ultimate warrior.
Mitt needs to ignore the moderators’ questions and march to his own drummer.
Examples:

Q: Are you concerned that your gaffe about criticizing the President of the United States of America’s Mid-East policies caused the rape and murder of US citizens abroad may make you an accessory to murder?”

A: The Mid East policy of the unknown person who has gained control of both the Presidency and the Media is to unite the moon worshiping inhabitants under the banner of the Muslim Brotherhood which was spawned eighty years ago by none other than Adolph Hitler.
Obama is a fraud and is the enemy of the Constitution and plans to make all Americans either subservient to his evil god or dead. Either way it does not matter to scum such as this impostor that now threatens all that is good and decent in the world.
The current regime has declared war on freedom, on free enterprise, and on freedom of thoughts and expression. The only thing that Obama and his evil minions, and I do not exclude the moderator, have accomplished in the last few years is to prove that Freedom is fragile.
WE THE PEOPLE must unite to stop this vile creature from dowsing the last lamp of freedom on the planet.
This is the moment in history, that YOU decide the fate of your children and grandchildren.
America has two centuries of being an exceptional
role model of freedom and advancement of all that is good and decent, because when the time of defending our inalienable rights from attack, our ancestors have stood shoulder to shoulder to squash the enemy of good. The enemy of justice. The enemy of opportunity. The enemy of freedom.
My fellow Americans, now is the time to stand up and be counted. The time is NOW to throw out this regime and to right the wrongs of their demented plans.

Q: You keep telling us that you can decrease the rate of unemployment but you have refused to say just how you plan to accomplish this feat. Could you explain?

A: The details are very simple. The current regime has done everything in it’s power to strip this county of opportunities to get a job or to create a business. In the minds of these people, the only way to get votes and stay in power is to remove the ability for persons to be independent. To remove the freedom that is the natural by product of self suffiency. To coerce and force the down trodden to vote for evil so as to be fed. Blackmail them to vote for self imprisonment so as to be roofed.
In the America that I know, a person has the right and opportunity to push free enterprise so as to provide jobs and opportunities. In the America I know, a person has the ethical responsibility to support a family and provide for their futures, they have a moral responsibility to help their neighbors and friends who need support until they can progress into a position of self reliance. In the America I know, there is no obligation whatsoever to work so as to support people who won’t work. There is no obligation to work to support persons who simply stroll into the country, never intending to become an American, their only intent is to take the money of those who work to support their spouses and children, and themselves.
Redistribution of wealth is simply another way spell the word THEFT.
If you want a booming economy, all that has to be done is put a stop to the massive theft of the working man that this unknown person who has stolen the oval office has orchestrated.
It’s very simple. Undo the things that undo jobs. Undo the Obama Regime and you will have jobs. Like any solution it all boils down to cause and effect.
The cause is having a communist anti American in the white house and the effect is a lack of prosperity, lack of security, and the lack of a future.
We must unite to cleanse the plague that is Obama. This is your moment in history to decide if your children and grandchildren will live in a world of darkness and slavery to a few masters or live in a world of freedom and opportunity that is the American Way. Help me shine the burning light of self reliance and self respect into the dark corridors of the white house so as the cock roaches will scurry away back to the sewers from whence the came.
Together we will stand, together, right is might, together we will drink the cup of victory filled to the brim with the sweet elixir that is freedom and opportunity.

I just hope Romney chooses to follow Reagan's closing remarks to the letter when his turn comes up. If he does, he will knock the ball clear out of the park.

In his closing remarks, Reagan asked the viewers a simple yet devastating question that would resonate with voters in 1980 and beyond: "Are you better off now than you were four years ago? Is it easier for you to go and buy things in the stores than it was four years ago? Is there more or less unemployment in the country than there was four years ago? Is America as respected throughout the world as it was? Do you feel that our security is as safe, that we're as strong as we were four years ago? And if you answer all of those questions 'yes', why then, I think your choice is very obvious as to whom you will vote for. If you don't agree, if you don't think that this course that we've been on for the last four years is what you would like to see us follow for the next four, then I could suggest another choice that you have."

2012 Presidential Debate Moderators: Candy Crowley, Jim Lehrer, Bob Schieffer And Martha Raddatz

The "Fix" is already in. It'll be questions like, "Good evening President Obama, how are the kids?" "Fine" says the President. "Now, Mutt, can you look the American Public straight in the eye and tell them why we should not refer to President Obama as the "Messiah"??? "Oops, your ten seconds are up". "Mr. President, you sure looked like "eye candy" on the View. Who do like the most Whoopie or Barbara"?

Talking points to remember:

“Unemployment was 6.5% when you took office, it went up to nearly 10% WHILE YOU WERE IN OFFICE- That’s NOT “Bush’s Fault”

It went up to 10% even though you claimed the stimulus would keep it below 8%

Health care was predicted to cost $700billion- current new estimates have it up at $2.4 Trillion

You said you would cust the deficit in half- you QUADRUPLED IT

You have not passed a budget YOUR ENTIRE TERM IN OFFICE

HAMMER THIS INCOMPETANT BOOB ROMNEY! Or you will LOSE - TO AN INCOMPETANT BOOB, AND WHAT WILL THAT MAKE YOU?

Of course there is one other option. Obama could cancel his appearance and appear on Letterman during the debate.

Now, that brings up an interesting situation. Romney would simply place an empty chair next to Obama's podium and do a Clint Eastwood on the chair.

Of course the LSM would still declare Zero the winner.

Its good advice that R would do well to heed.

It IS true that the debate can hinge on the smallest things that have nothing much to do with capabilities or command of factoids.

Zero will have an army of apologists in the press and will be getting softball questions. R will have to reach deep and take whatever advantages he can and speak OVER the media to the people and be earnest about it.

You are correct. Mitt Romney is a seasoned debater, and knows the tricks the left will throw at him, while Obama has been protected in a comparative bubble his whole political life, never having to face those he lies about and insults. Romney’s also far more intelligent, and given a fair fight, he will wipe the floor with bambi.

Since the media will ask the wrong questions, to distract attention from zeroing in on The One's failures, what Romney should do is rephrase the questions to highlight the issue in the mind of the American people.

"Jim, that is not really the relevant question because. ... the more revelant question is. ..

Good advise. I would add that Mitt does not need to win the battle in the eyes of MSM, he needs to win in the eyes of the American public.
I truly believe that there are far more conservatives in this country then the purported size of the communists. Just as always, it only takes a small percentage to destroy freedom.
Mitt must inspire this majority to make sure they stop what they are doing on November seventh, and vote.
Also the key to public debate is to paint a very thick line of contrast between yourself and the opponent.
Example:

I promise I will never apologize for the right of Americans to exercise free speech, free thoughts, and free expressions.

I promise I will never refer to The Constitution of The United States of America as being outdated, or make claims that the Law of The Land is an ever changing living document and I think that those who do, should find some place else to live.

I promise that should an American be harmed by a terrorist that I will hold the country that allowed the act responsible and accountable and that the consequences will be harsh and punitive with extreme prejudice.

I promise you that I ask you to vote for me, and will never FORCE you to vote for me by removing chances of emplopyemnt, opportunities of free Enterprise and self reliance.

I promise that the stars and stripes make up the flag that I love, and would never replace it with a crayon mockery of Democracy.

I promise to avenge the attack on our freedom, to persecute those that would remove our law of the land, and to remove those that oppose our free republic.

We all know that the questions will be skewed in Obama’s favor. Romney needs to gain control of the debate. What Mitt needs to immediately do is reframe the questions, answer them, and then turn to look at Obama and hammer him with a question of his own. The best defense is a good offence.

Good advise! Hammer the creature with a question such as,”How dare you apologize for our country having the right of free speech while a man is carted off from his home by brown shirted enforcement for exercising that same right? How dare you blame the innocent while taking the lives of the innocent with your either incompetent or undermining form of foreign policy?”

Or out the clear blue sky...

maybe ad a little foreign and domestic policy together. How dare you send 2000 firearms into a foreign country with out prior consent and not be able to track them. How do you justify allowing American LEO's to be killed because of your desire to usurp the second amendment.

“Why is the debate so important? We already know that the media will say that Obama won the debate, easily. And, since so few people actually will watch the debate, it is a slam dunk for Obama that he has already won the debate...just ask ABC, CBS, MSNBC, NBC and MSNBC.”

First of all, in general, the concept that these debates are so important is stupid. I understand why a POTUS needs to be a good experienced negotiator (Which of course Bozo is not!) to be able to deal with Congress, foreign leaders etc.
However, why is it important for a candidate to win these debates when they never, ever debate anyone in this type of TV forum as part of the POTUS job description? We are electing a leader and chief executive, not a debate champion. If that is the case than just run the top college debater in the US and call it a day! I know that in the past the debates were an opportunity to see the candidates on the same stage, face to face, but in this age of 24/7 news coverage and social media there is so much information available about the candidates that the debates have become irrelevant.

Second, if your school football team was going to play your blood rival would you agree to allow the referees to all be people who you know are absolute supporters of your rival? Of course you wouldn’t. That would be stupid! Of course that is exactly what the RNC, and R&R, are doing by allowing their enemies, and I don’t use that word lightly, in the media to moderate these debates.

This is exactly why I would advise R&R to tell the State Run Media that they are not showing up to their Obama butt-kissing, dog and pony show, unless Mark Levin and/or Rush are also moderators. I don’t care if they don’t like it, they are our enemy. It would be a great opportunity to let the voting public know that they are not putting up with this crap anymore and expose the SRM for what the are. (Tass and Pravda rolled into one!) I don’t care if they have to broadcast 2 hours of Obama playing with himself. Do not let them set the agenda and frame these debates. They attempt, and succeed, at damaging our candidates every day. It is insanity to cowtow to them and let them damage our candidates to their faces! This is all a big fing set up!! Obama will have all the questions in advance! Tell the SRM to add conservative moderators, or to go pound sand!! This media bullshit needs to end!!

Newt has given him the road map and excellent advice.

Romney must heed it.

Take command from the start, be the presence throughout, do it with good humor and in complete honesty and call down the Marxist and his plethora of failed policies in no uncertain terms.

Newt’s advice to attack the media is stellar because the libtard moderator will certainly give Romney one or more golden opportunities.

“I will honor the Constitution’s intent by charging the Legislature with proposing laws, instead of avoiding the constitutional process by using executive orders.”

That’s a noble statement, and I agree with it on principle, but...

If Romney says something like this, and gets elected, how is he going to issue the NEW executive orders necessary to repeal the ones Obama put into place?

And keep a straight face while doing it, anyway....?

Easy: He will explain the NET effect; one cancels the other out. Back to Constitutional law.

Debating Obama would be extremely easy a six your old would win if you make sure he doesn't have an ear piece. During the McCain debates it was obvious he was using a communication device.

The way I would do it is rather then confronting Obama find the guy doing the talking and take over the microphone.

Excellent suggestion about the moderators...you have to wonder if the Republican leadership is so isolated in Washington that they do not realized how much the media is against them or are they just that stupid?
