Judge hints he may block Pennsylvania voter ID

With just six weeks until the presidential election, a judge raised the possibility Tuesday that he would move to block Pennsylvania's controversial voter ID law.

"I'm giving you a heads-up," Commonwealth Court Judge Robert E. Simpson Jr. told lawyers after a day's testimony on whether the law is being implemented in ways that ensure no voters will be disenfranchised. "I think it's a possibility there could be an injunction here."

**SNIP**

Critics of the law have argued that it is being rushed into effect - it was enacted in March - and will disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters, particularly minorities, the elderly, and the poor. Democrats have branded it a thinly veiled attempt by Republicans to suppress the vote for President Obama on Nov. 6 and boost Mitt Romney's chances of winning Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes.

State officials have countered in public statements - and again in testimony Tuesday - that they have mounted an aggressive campaign of TV ads, mass mailings, and other measures to educate voters about the law and provide free photo IDs to all who need them.

I think this is another sign of desperation. Why fight this if there is actually no chance of a Romney win in this state?

The latest Rasmussen Polls

"The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Pennsylvania shows Obama with 51% of the vote to Romney’s 39%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate in the race, and seven percent (7%) remain undecided."

My mom rec’d a glossy, full color postcard telling her she needs ID - yesterday. The Dems in my county (Allegheny, home to Pittsburgh) are going to just print out sheets of paper that they will call ID - I am not kidding.

There is no reason these people couldn’t cast a provisional ballot to be examined, verified, and counted

only if the vote count is close enough to require it.

To be fair to this judge, in an unprecedented action the State Supreme Court sent the case back to him and practically ORDERED him to issue an injunction.

What further proof is needed; Democrats rely solely on fraudulent votes to win elections.

Some of these states need to have the military observing their polling places, as we have done in Iraq. Why should they have cleaner elections than we do? And the purple finger is not such a bad idea either.

None.

And, while some joke about this, I find it incredibly scary. Our elections are corrupt and while we yuk it up and the GOPe have cocktails in The Hampton's, our country is being stolen by the Marxists/Socialists/Commies.

Now THAT would be totally unexpected! /sarc

I hope it is clear to everyone that these judges have no (and I mean zero) interest in ensuring the poor and otherwise disadvantaged are not disenfranchised. They are only looking to make sure they can counteract as many conservative votes as possible. Every illegal voter potentially disenfranchises a legal voter.

Ruling allows out-of-state students to vote in NH

Students traditionally have been allowed to declare the state their home without holding legal residency, which involves an intent to stay for an extended period of time".

-------

When individuals find themselves in New Hampshire and know they will leave, they should not vote here," he said. "Legislating otherwise from the bench to say there are two classes of voters — all of us who reside in New Hampshire and those residents of other states who choose to vote here because we are a battleground state — is judicial activism of the worst sort.

He’s going to issue his injunction the day before election day, in order to leave no time for an appeal.

This sort of thing started, quietly, back in '04. Turnout in college areas suddenly skyrocketed all across the nation and turnout levels certainly didn't come back down in '08. College students, who are mostly mush-headed Dems of course, were advised that they could vote on campus and also back home, either elsewhere in a state or in a different state. Don't worry, you won't get caught, wink, wink...

That particular vote fraud policy wasn't *official* mind you (until now, in NH) but it was done nonetheless.

On the main subject of this thread, I predicted months ago that some Rat bastard judge would strike down the voter ID requirement here in PA, and/or the ghetto and other Rat precincts would just ignore the law anyway.

Have you ever known a Democrat to obey a voting law?

When the penalty for vote fraud is death, and is enforced, then maybe we'll get back to free and fair elections. Though we'll still have the blood-libel media and their 24/7 bias in favor of the Rats to deal with.

“...will disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters”

Prove it! I want to see the details of some of these folks so we might sample them. These are folks that get no public assistance, have never been stopped and asked to provide an ID and have never cashed a check (including government) and have never purchased anything where an ID was required?

Critics of the law have argued that it is being rushed into effect - it was enacted in March - and will disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters, particularly minorities, the elderly, and the poor.(He apparently forgot illegals.)

When this lie is repeated, insist that they give a detailed explanation of exactly how this disenfranchises anyone. When they waffle or give an untruthful explanation, hit 'em with this: "If I'm hearing you right, you believe that minorities, the elderly and the poor are incapable of handling their own affairs. How many of them have YOU offered to help get the ID they need?" Also, "By the way, do you think that they might have to show ID for access to the many social programs designed to help them? Can't they use that ID to vote?"
