No, I’m afraid it’s not a good idea to agree to be an organ donor. You don’t always know what hospital you’ll end up in, or who your doctor will be.
My mother was in a Catholic nursing home for many years, with senile dementia. The nursing home took good care of her, and the nurses were great. But every once in a while she’d have to go to a nearby hospital, with a touch of pneumonia or the like. And every time that happened, I’d have to argue with the doctors there not to just kill her to save on expenses. I refused consent, and some of them spent a lot of time trying to persuade me to sign the consent forms.
Which raises another point. If you ever go into a hospital, you need a trusted family member to guard your back.
Well the “affordable care act” with its death pannels is designed to reduce costs by ending the lives fo the elderly based on the burden they present.
maybe its my age but I have in writing NO CODE...as a nurse I have seen vegetables brought back to so called life...Not one nurse I worked with ever wanted to be coded, we see too many that don’t turn out good, but that is an individuals decision to make...have also told my doctor... I have said prior on FR, my heart is not good-âunstable angina....lungs no good-âCOPD, Kidneys act up once in a while, so they are a no no, skin is old wrinkled and have psoriasis, liver OK but I am working hard on fixing that with bourbon, brain....damn near useless.
