Anothrer thing that helped her was she was a natural at playing in music videos around her songs and the record company spent real money on them, because that was at the right time the beginning of the MTV video age when that was the #1 way to advertise songs.
My college student union building had MTV on bigscreen all the time. Now it's completely different channel
