It's always a mistake to imagine that Obama is smart.

He's not.

Any idiot that would even publish a ‘poll’ that would show a black, pro-gay marriage, marxist, anti-coal, anti-oil, anti-american ‘president’ beating anyone from the GOP deserves to be permanently ignored. It would be akin to publishing a poll that showed black support for Sarah Palin significantly higher than that for Obama.

Sorry but you lose all credibility when you tout John Zogby as even being a pollster.

Like Quinnipig doesn’t know how to load their predictive dialers, much less their questions. #facepalm

If you had bothered to read the interview, Peter Pollpuffer admits the likelihood of Quinnipig’s skew actually occuring is somewhere near zero.

It was an outlier that any rational poll org would have discarded, but that wasn’t the point, was it....

John Zogby, the well-respected pollster and author who founded Zogby International, sold the company to a Brazilian firm called IBOPE in 2010 and no longer holds any interest in the company.

My ref was to Zogby, not to IBOPE

One of the few times I have been polled, I was asked a disqualifying question up front. It was so blatantly obvious they wanted a specific pliable person, that it called the whole process into question.

There’s one poll I believe, and there are times when I’m even suspect of it. It will be held on November 6th this year.

Zogby is an idiot and if you believe his poll saying that NASCAR fans favor Obama, well you are an idiot too.

Like I said, it ain’t gonna happen.

Keep in mind that for your logic to work, the reason the Dems are up so much is because we’re staying home. Well, that would mean more of us (five to six percent) are staying home than stayed home when McCain was up. Really? There’s a significant portion of the GOP electorate that thinks Mitt Romney is far worse than McCain, or that Sarah Palin was worth voting for but Paul Ryan isn’t? Poppycock. It gets to be even bigger poppycock when you add in that the GOP would have to be gaining in Party ID while Romney is our face during an election year, but have several percent less turnout than four years ago when we had one of our worst defeats ever.

That scenario is beyond bizarre. I’m not buying it.

Well let me guess that they conducted their poll on a weekday between the hours of 8 to 5 while most Republicans/conservatives were working real jobs, as opposed to standing on the street corner with a cell phone in one hand, while dealing crack with the other.

Polling is a very competitive business. Capitalism works to cull the herd. Quinnipiac is a university "institute' with10 permanent party and about 150 work study students doing the calls.

I suppose they cheat a lot but there ought to be considerable turnover.

Doing a quick read I figured out almost instantly what bugs Conservatives ~ this group originally did just CT, then the NE and more recently it has branched out into focusing on the "BATTLEGROUND STATES" ~

The "NEWSIES" love to focus on those states too so you get a cheap giveaway quinnipiac poll to toss in your story and next thing you know this rinky dink crowd are important in the public mind way beyond any reality. they don't do national eh!

IBOPE did the nascar thing ~ not zogby.

Now, ask me, do I think nascar fans are idiots?

Come on ~ ask!

we don’t know which areas the pollsters used to get their results. If they only used Orlando and other large areas such as Palm Beach which are always heavily democratic and avoided the areas which favor the GOP then the polls would be correct because of who they sampled.

If that is what actually what happened, Obama IS toast because the percentage of Dem over GOP in those areas is more than 10% which means that those who they need to vote for Obama ( the Hard Core Dems) aren’t going to be there at all.

Florida has some strange demographics ~ they have a constant inflow of childless elderly, particularly women from NY and CT. They have a constant outflow of slightly older childless elderly, particularly women due to the death rate among the elderly.

So they check in, and they check out.

With the destruction of Middle class savings by the Great Obamugabe Recession, I bet fewer of those ol'gals have been moving to Florida, but the death rate is still there taking them away just as fast.

Florida might be in the throes of a shift toward having a more numerous younger population of underemployed folks without large savings ~ as you note there are areas in FL with higher percentages of former NE Democrats who could be tapped purposefully by pollsters to get a heavily Democrat answer, but someone using random selection blanketing the state, would get a very dramatically different answer.

Bet they get a lot more hangups down there these days too.

Thanks for posting the link, I enjoyed reading the full transcript. Too bad Rush didn’t pick up on it, although I caught a little bit of his show today and he was talking about the phony polls and the Dem oversampling. At least that’s something.

Good grief you are wrong yet again. The pollster was JZ Analytics (John Zogby Analytics) not IBOPE. Sorry to have to keep correcting you.

Maybe Axelrod really hasn’t threatened the pollsters—because he believes it’s wrong from a moral standpoint.

Maybe pollsters really don’t have any special tricks to make poll results come out exactly as Axelrod didn’t order them to be.
