Update -- Police have identified the deceased suspect as 36-year-old Byron Ray Maxwell.
Earlier -- Austin police say the manager of an arcade fatally shot a man who was attempting to enter the business shortly after midnight Wednesday morning.
The manager says the man attempted to break in to the arcade, located off Manor Road in East Austin, while he was locking up for the night. The suspect was armed with a knife.

You may call it Austin but we call it Moscow On The Guadalupe.
I honestly didn’t know arcades still existed. I figured all the high end gaming systems put an end to them.
At any rate, good shootin’ by the manager. IIRC, Texas law gives extra latitude on the use of deadly force when the crime occurs after sunset, so hopefully the guy won’t face any legal hassles here.
You owe me half a glass of sweet tea that I just spewed all over my desk!! (I live a ways down I-35). Thanks for the good laugh.
Post of the day, sir.....
I will charge the sweet tea to my freerepublic posting salary./S
Thank you for the kind words.
