A mother who endured cyberbullying after her daughter's death writes about the insidious trend.

Lesli Catsouras, the mother of Nikki Catsouras, has just completed a memoir "Forever Exposed," about her family's journey coping with Internet trolls and cyber-bullies in addition to the toll-road-crash death of her 18-year-old daughter.

I remember that. It was horrible and grisly.

Our society has lost all sense of decency. Even FReepers can rarely resist comments about weight, height, and relative attractiveness. We’re not the polite and pleasant society we once were.

I am really sorry this woman’s daughter died in a car accident.
Yet, the kid was driving at 100mph+ and lost control of the car, it is more tragic because the child was responsible for their own death.
Why would she (family) search the internet for photos?
Many people are idiots, why keep the social networks open for people to post idiotic crap?
Write your book, try and heal - which never will be possible, a parent should never have to out live their child or children. It is an event impossible to recover from.

The Porsche Girl story is sad for all involved. I don’t suggest it but images of the incident can be found online still today.

The family got a $2.375 Million payday at taxpayers’ expense. Now money for a book. I have my opinion on both.

I think the only thing that has changed is the fact that someone can post something are it can reach millions of people. People have always been the same, only technology has given voice to the creeps of the world.

Ok, I am not getting this.
It is not possible to remove anything from the internet, or nearly impossible.
Explain what was the money for orignially (I missed that)?
The girl was erratic because she once had a brain tumor, ok.
Then why on earth would you allow her to drive a machine of such power.
I would be pissed if these things were on the internet about my daughter, I get it.
It seems to me anyway they are searching these items out.
For me it almost seems that the family is trying to find a way to explain their grief, when they are in part culpable.

Why would she (family) search the internet for photos?

That's the problem. Some scumbags created a myspace page that was nefariously billed as a memorial page.

Also, the family received a great many taunting emails and phone calls after the incident. Some scumbags just aren't happy unless they're hurting someone.

I don’t believe the girl was allowed to drive her daddy’s Porsche. She took it w/o his permission as many rebellious teenagers will do. What I don’t get is why the family needs to profit from this tragedy to the tune of millions at the taxpayers’ expense. And with this book they make even more money. The article claims a ‘portion’ of the proceeds from the book will go to charity. And the rest? I’ve followed this story since it first broke. This family was wronged but not by the taxpayers. They got public sympathy then lost it when they sought to profit. That’s their choice, sure, but they’ll get no more sympathy from me.

There are people in this world who are so miserable that they want to inflict that on others, I understand that.
For me it just seems like something is missing from the story.

I wasn’t even sure about what was what. I don’t know how EMTs and firemen deal with that on a regular basis.

In this case, it was the cops who trolled the family with picture of the dead child on the internet. How evil is that?! And you know it is the green with envy mob stalking this with their comments about her being a spoiled rich kid driving daddy’s porche, deserving to die. How wicked.

The really evil people who post stuff like this are attention whores. The more attention they get for their badness, the happier they are and the more they are movtivated. Evil people don’t know shame. Human suffering and death makes them feel alive.

I hear you. Now writing the book will result in a million more internet users finding the photos.

It’s got to be tough for all involved including EMTs. They do this sort of thing all to often but it still can’t be easy.

“Explain what was the money for orignially “

The police/EMS/ or morgue released official scene photos “on the sly” that are not supposed to be released.

A-holes ended up emailing the photos to the family and creating at least one “memorial” page with the photos, and emailing the “memorial” links to the family.
