“Of early ballots in 2008 in IA, Dems returned 47% and Repubs 27%. This is something we need to keep track of.
Also with voter registration in IA, repubs outnumber dems in pure outright numbers now compared to 2008. We were outnumbered back then.”

Interesting old FR post I found when looking for something else. The date is October 29 2004 and the FReeper is stating: “Brokaw reports gov of Iowa claims the Dems are ahead 60,000 out of 200,00 absentee ballots. Can anyone tell me what’s really going on?”

Looked really bad at that time but President Bush went on to win Iowa!! Iowa Republican voters must prefer to vote closer or on election day. I surmise that it used to be that way in Ohio but now with the early absentee request forms being mailed to all voters, Republican voters are taking advantage of the new procedure.

Polls I have seen indicate maybe 10 percent of Dems voting Romney and about 10 percent of (probably moderate GOP women) voting Obama, so while they will vote, they will also cancel each other out like you see. I don’t see any poll yet that indicates more than 10 percent or so voting for the other side.

Some show less as well., but it always so far at least has been pretty even.

I am concerned the Dems might catch up later during absentees and early voting, but I think we have a very good advantage here that will not allow them to catch up too much.

I realize there needs to be some leeway for absentee voters, but six weeks?....I got one in the mail the other day. Didn’t ask for it, don’t need it and sure as hell ain’t going to use it. Why?

I realize there are legitimate reasons to have absentee voting. That said I believe the founders wanted all votes cast on a single day,

...in addition.

Are a lot of these being sent out to the Left, so they can be rounded up and used by players, and you simply got one by mistake?

It does make you wonder doesn’t it.
