MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - You know the saying: Don't bring a knife to a gunfight? Try telling that to three students who pulled a Samurai sword on a gun-packing robber.

"He chose the wrong guy to mug. I always said I'm not going to give money to someone who mugs me, and I'm living proof. I'm here and he's in jail," said Tyler Michaels, a teenage college student.

The person in jail is armed robbery suspect Deadrick Gaines.

Michaels said Gaines pulled a gun on him in a parking lot and then demanded they go get money from inside his apartment. Once inside, Michaels said he fought back -- successfully wrestling the gun from Gaines, but ending up with two black eyes.

"He put a beating on me. I was just after that gun. I took that beating to get that gun," said Michaels.

I wonder if it was off campus. Many schools prohibit students from even having pocketknives.

People should be allowed to carry swords at all times, like in the old days when crime was near zero percent............

I really hate misleading headlines. The guy was stopped with hand-to-hand and his own gun.
The sword was brought in after the baddie was down.

The Second Amendment guarantees the right of a person carry a sword at all times.

I’d prefer a shotgun.

and then demanded they go get money from inside his apartment.

That criminal probably had not intention of letting him leave that apartment.

If Ubama had a son, he’d look just like the incarcerated perp.

*************

Good thing for the perp....
This "victim" wasn't a muzzie in favor of sharia law...

His gun hand might've ended up in the dumpster...

Just sayin'

Those guys live in a pigsty. And it’s only a few weeks into the school year. I guess no moms are around to pick up after them.

In 1972 in our house in Southside St Petersburg my wife shook me awake and said SHHHH! and pointed to the window. There was someone trying to prize the Florida louver window open right there over our heads. I got up quietly and retrieved the ca. 1500s Arabian Damascus sword off the wall that my Dad had got during his tour as a Truce Observer in Palestine in the early 60s. The blade is a hair over 3 feet long, narrow, and curved. I slipped into unlaced jungle sneakers and put my VNam boonie hat on my head. I silently exited the house through the back door (unlocked) and went around to the affected side of the house where I saw a fellow working away at the window. He had got the louvers pried up and was removing a slat. I raised the sword over my head and waved my other hand where he could see the motion from the corner of his eye. He turned his head and froze for a second then moved faster than I thought possible and was gone somewhere across the street where I lost sight of him because the street lights were out.
