“I don’t think you want a male candidate opining on how a lady should act.”

In all seriousness, why not?

The women will certainly tell the men how THEY should act...

Perhaps Mr. Akin should address Ms. McCaskill in a non-ladylike way?

I hope he does win.

If he does it means McCaskill is 1000 x worse than I thought because I have never seen a candidate (Akin) work so hard to lose.

the rest of your post was not my comment. you mixed up comments and that give the impression that I said all of that. That’s not kosher.

Just pointing it out so people don’t get confused.

OK, let me cut to the chase. There is nothing wrong with the term “ladylike”. It is not offensive to anyone, except maybe an extreme feminist. Therefore, to give any credence to a complaint about it I think is ridiculous.

They would be happy to take anything he said, no matter how innocent, and make a “story” out of it. I can’t criticize a man for saying something normal.

BTW he really was saying she was not “ladylike” in the debate. Big deal.

Just my opinion. There are always Freepers ready to jump on board with every media attack on a republican.

What you did that was dumb is think this is a “dumb comment.” It’s not, unless you’re a politically correct libtard. People are still allowed to use the word “ladylike” in this country and it has no negative meaning or connotation. In case you haven’t checked lately, men and women are not the same. By your standard, even though we all know what an effeminate man is, we wouldn’t be allowed to call him effeminate, despite it being a neutral, descriptive term. You’re living in the bizarro libtard world where health insurance should pay for “gender reassignment,” while the rest of FR lives in the real world.

The entire argument for asking Akin to withdraw is premised on a fear of the media. By that standard, Romney should’ve withdrawn at least 6 or 7 times by now.

You have a good point but I have a real issue with this as I was savagely attacked at the very beginning about Akin when calling him on his first blunder. You might say I have an ax to grind. I admit it’s not very ladylike but it is what it is.

I just wish we could get some winning candidates and I’m frustrated.

Oh right. I’m the only one who thinks his comment is dumb. It’s not all over the internet and being used like a truncheon against all conservatives.

My bad

I did not say there was anything wrong with the word “ladylike”.

If you think that Akin’s comment was perfectly fine then there is nothing to worry about is there?

“Aiken is a nice guy who is right on all the issues - but he isn’t a politican.”

Interesting comment.

I thought one of the fundamental reasons we are where we are today — in a country with a failing government — is exactly because of “politicians” who are loyal to their professional culture first, and disregarding of their constituents.

.... And that one of the reasons that conservatives tout “term limits” so much is to reduce the influence of the “professional politicians”.

Considering the direction the country has been going in the last 50 years, one recalls the famous remark by William F. Buckley [paraphrasing] that he would prefer to be governed by the first 500 people from the Boston telephone directory rather than the members of Congress.

So... along comes a guy like Mr. Akin, who (in your very words above) is “a nice guy who is right on all the issues” but not a “politician”.

What’s wrong with that? So, he isn’t as “polished” as the big shots (does that include you?) would proffer before us.

So what?

I’m not William F. Buckley, but I’d prefer to be governed by Todd Akin and 534 other guys like him, who misspeak once in a while but are “right on the issues” — rather than a hall full of politicians who would just as soon sell this country down the drain, so long as they could keep gettin’ theirs...

Don’tcha know, the media get to set the rules on what we conservatives can think, say and do. We’re not allowed to nominate any candidate who would offend the sensibilities of the media. They are our lords and masters and we must bow down to their every whim. Any candidate who they attack must be tarred, feathered, drawn and quartered to appease them.

And with a name like Akin, he just might be one of the first 500 people in the phonebook. Buckley would be proud.

Do we all understand now why McCaskill gave millions to Akin's primary campaign?

No, but we understand why people like you who are proponents of drug legalization don’t like him. We know it has nothing to do with the comments he’s made in interviews.

That's a lie.

She never did.

Posting lies is not the ladylike or gentlemanly thing to do.

Read the rules -- the same rules you expect others to abide by.
