Obama Bumbles: "I Want To Outsource More Jobs"
IBD EDITORIALS ^ | September 27, 2012

Industrial Policy: The president's media apologists will say it was not a gaffe, that he merely misspoke and corrected himself. But the fact remains that his policies are exporting jobs, particularly to China.

President Obama, during a campaign speech at Kent State University in Ohio on Wednesday, mistakenly said he wanted to export more U.S. jobs before correcting himself and saying he was "channeling" Republican rival Mitt Romney.

Or was it a mistake?

To his media supporters, it's no gaffe. Their dictionary defines gaffe as anything that comes out of Romney's mouth. Certainly not the mouth of Joe Biden, who has trouble remembering which state he's in, and certainly not anything that falls from the lips of the Great Obfuscator, even when his teleprompter gets stuck.

The irony here is that the president's policies of higher and higher taxation and regulation, of blocking new energy production and of putting saving the earth above saving our economy, as well as bowing to China on free trade, are facilitating the export of U.S. jobs even as he accuses Romney of being an "outsourcing pioneer."

The Obama administration had no problem with approving a plan by electric car company Fisker to use part of its $529 million federal stimulus loan guarantee to build its manufacturing facility, and the 500 jobs it supports, in Finland.

Fisker employees were laid off at an old General Motors facility in Biden's Delaware that Fisker was supposed to refurbish. Outsourcing, anyone?

Speaking of China and GM, the president says he has gotten tough on Beijing. But the record does not show it, particularly involving Government Motors, aka GM, the company he says he saved.

Heard this today. In listening closely to his cadence, and from what I’ve heard in his past speeches, I’m inclined to believe he said what he said purposefully. He said exactly what he wanted. He said the words clearly - as if reading them right off the teleprompter. He then delivered the punchline perfectly. Timed perfectly. I call “set up.”

I watched the Obama commercial accusing Romney of sending jobs to China and snickered at the hypocrisy of this turd to say such a thing when we all know who is responsible. Barrack Obama.

70% of GM manufacturing is now done in China.

The CEO (not Obama) of GM said a few weeks ago he wants to manufacture MORE parts in China.

This gaffe should be a commercial. Tag line: Obama admits his agenda and the results of his policies.

Don’t call it a Freudian slip. No one knows who the Hell Freude was.

I agree with the others. Definitely a Freudian slip. Besides, he’s already outsourced and killed a lot of jobs. Why should he change tactics now?

So what Islamic radical is being channeled when calling into question our freedom of speech?

Think on this. WE use to make TVs, washers, dryers, refrigerators, stereos, and various things....up until the 1970s...here in America. Today, WE don’t manufacture any TVs....as far as I know. There are few if any computers, monitors or laptops made in the US. I’d be guessing that half the washers, dryers and refrigerators are made outside of the country. Car parts? Probably half of every single replacement car part....made beyond US borders.

So what happened? We lost a segment of our nation somewhere in the 1990s. Clinton, Bush, and Obama have utilized a weak-dollar gimmick...to booster what limited things remain....to help us sell items to Europe or wherever. A weak dollar policy is stupid, but it’s the long term trick that has kept what little remains as attractive.

The outsource strategy...has screwed America, and will continue to do so...for decades to come.
