The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services reported that more than $100 million in welfare benefits were issued to illegal alien parents for their native-born children in June and July alone, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.
The $100 million consists of nearly $40 million in CalWORKs (welfare) and $70 million in food stamps representing 22% of all CalWORKs and food stamp issuances in the County. At this rate, the projected annual cost is more than $625 million.
With the $550 million for public safety and nearly $500 million for healthcare, the total cost for illegal immigrants to County taxpayers exceeds $1.6 billion dollars a year, said Antonovich. These costs do not include the hundreds of millions of dollars for education.
Well this goes a bit beyond politics...
If it wasn’t for the insatiable lust for cheap labor in the fields 90% of the Africans in this country would still be in Africa and probably 85% of the Mexicans would still be in Mexico.
It’s a good thing money grows on trees, eh?
How can u hide these facts any longer.... this is just criminal I know I live here.
That's an irritatingly mistitled program.
It doesn’t look like costs for the illegals’ `graduate school’ educations, room and board were mentioned.
“In California, its estimated that prisoners who are illegal immigrants cost the state at least $1 billion per year just to keep them in prison.”
If the USA doesn’t get a handle on our immigration laws and—more importantly—enforcement of those laws, we’re going to be as screwed as the Golden state.
Awesome. Just add it to the $481 billion we gave Syria today and the $70,000 spent apologizing for us because he lied.
It’s a good thing all those illegals are hard-working and bring greater wealth than they consume. And don’t forget the added benefits of increased diversity and the conservative outlooks of family and education new immigrants bring. </s>
