Wrong about Romney, Right about Palin (Vanity)
Self

Posted on 09/27/2012 9:29:49 PM PDT by indianrightwinger

I owe everyone here an an apology for falsely believing and then promoting the idea that Romney had the ability to unify the country and create a grander GOP coalition. He did not. I am fully behind him (only GOP candidate on ballot), but can only see a narrow GOP win (if we all pull the lever). Having said that, I am also certain that this was never a moment for a polarizing figure (like Palin). To defeat Obama by a big margin, we needed an inspirational/charismatic conservative (Paul Ryan type). We did not have that choice. Oh well....lest vote and get Romney in by a squeaker!! Then, solve the larger electoral problem in the next cycle or two.

I don’t know that liberal Republicans or even some moderate Republicans would have supported Palin like conservatives lined up to support Romney, so you’re probably correct. If one believes it takes democrats for Republicans to win, it is doubtful they would ever vote for Palin, whereas the might for liberal Mitt.

Calling names and calling out is all Obama does. We don’t even have to lie when we do it. Truth is an ally. BTW, I agree with you that name-calling is pointless. But, e.g., Romney conceding the phony 8.1% jobless rate, when the real numbers exceed 11% is just plain gutless. Mitt MUST call out Obama’s lies.

You are wrong about Palin, she is a unifier, not a divider, that is media talk, she could have led McCain to victory.

Only unifiers become perhaps the most popular governor in American history, and she did that while being a reformer, and fighting both parties in her state.

Palin as Governor, reached a 93% approval rating, and ran a sustained approval rating in the low to high 80%, she was a true unifier.

Conservative Candidates don’t rely on liberal/moderate Republicans to win elections. Voters crawl out of the woodwork to vote for principled Conservative Candidates. Think Reagan, the Gingrich Revolution, and the ‘10 midterms.

This post and the one above it make me SICK!!!!! There is not a candidate out there who could please everyone, especially given that the media is now even skewing polls and exploiting the GOP candidate when he burps or farts and then suppresses the facts about Obama!

So many around here have become the biggest bunch of limp wristed, cry babies I have ever seen. “Romney sucks”, “Romney is a lousey candidate”, ect.... WHY???? Because the media and bunch of RINO talking heads told you so??

BULL SHIP!!!! Man up people!!!!

Romney was not my first choice either, BUT then I watched the Convention and heard about his life and accomplishments and it dawned on me. He is the EXACT right man for this time in America's history. We are going off a fiscal cliff to a place of NO return. This guy is going to take names and kick ass when it comes to fixing the economy. I have a problem with him on other issues, but guess what people?? There is NO other issue this time around.

Quit acting like a “Donner Party” Repub (one that eats their own) and enthusiastically get behind Romney. It is bad enough he has to battle the media and Obama. He should not have to battle us too. We have a country to save!!!!

I’m sick too. I’ve been sick since it became apparent that Romney was the candidate. But, I’m going to hold my nose and vote for him, and he’s gonna win in a landslide, in spite of himself, his wishwashy stand on abortion, his want to keep part of the healthcare law he wrote, and his refusal to go after liberal obama with the same zeal that he spewed on Conservatives during the primary. whaddaya want people to lie to you? Be phoney? You’re in the wrong place if that’s what you are lookin’ for.

Palin didn't run..wussed out after flirting like a sailor girl...and some of her utterings since then...thanks anyhow and I once thought she walked on agua..the nextg great hope

Perry fell apart...Cain shoulda never run

Bachmann..ideology great but too shrill..good woman though..hard for a gal to run for POTUS..it's like a woman being Field Marshall...not easy

Santorum just quit sort of oddly after it appeared Newt was vanquished

Romney seems lost at times..and we know he is 110% GOPE..but he beats the Marxist

and now Ryan has bitched up for the homosexual agenda..another wiener

only one had any real fight in him/her .. was Newt Gingrich...I guarantee Obama feared debating him..whereas he likely relishes debating Romney

now if Romney would only fight Obama like he did Newt we might have something.

if we win it will be by God's grace...and Obama’s unpopularity

the GOPE and FOX never figured out they needed their base for enough turn out to beat the now obvious sampling game handily

sometimes I think if we lost in 6 weeks one good thing is we can toss out the Old Guard GOP if we can only survive 4 more of Asshat in Chief

Change what?

She is a uniter, not a divider, that has nothing to do with her resigning after 32 months, even after all that the media threw at her, she still left with with very high approval ratings.

Romney on the other hand, left with 34% approval, he is a divider, not a uniter.

I didnt have that feeling about mccain but i had a strong feeling about palin cause she connected with me- she thinks the way i think about the country and buisness and alot of other things— If palin hadnt been the VP, i probally would have never voted in 08.. I cant stand a liberal, they make my head just boil.. romney or pork ryan dont interest me at all. they are just part of the same O same O in washington.. good luck to you all, but i wont and cant support Milt in any way— you know how i feel and i wont change that. the way milt dissed palin not to speak at the RNC really really got me POed..

Thanks for manning up and admitting that your earlier faith in Romney was misplaced, but I strongly disagree with you about whether Palin would have been a better choice at this juncture in our history.

I believe it was the perfect time for her to run. She was our Reagan, to their Carter, and would have beaten Obama in an unmitigated rout. She would have also gone on to do a better job as president, than we’ve seen anyone do in decades.

That said, the Kenyan truly must go. I still won’t pull the lever for Romney, but I won’t try to dissuade others from doing so.

My first Vote was for Nixon in 1972, the same guy that established the EPA two years earlier. Knowing that, I still would never have imagined doing anything that would help McGovern win that Election. The same applies today with Obama and Romney. I will not give Obama any chance by wavering from supporting the Republican Nominee.

I wanted Newt, I got Romney. Life's a bitch, but Obama’s a Commie Rat Bastard who hates the America I love. That's good enough for me.

I'm sure everyone here felt as you did about supporting Palin and the Old Guy in 2008. Doesn't matter, we lost and Palin decided to sit this one out.

That being said, my original Post was just a statement of the obvious. You do what you need to do and let the chips fall where they may.

My reply was not meant as a criticism of Regan. I campaigned for him when he ran for Gov. and Pres. It was to show how times change. There was a time when a divorce, regardless of cause would disqualify a person from becoming president. When Regan ran it was not. And times have certainly changed sense then.
