THE WEEKLY STANDARD has learned that Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has scheduled a phone call for late morning Friday with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
President Obama refused to meet with Netanyahu on his trip to the United States, and the Israeli government presumably thought a meeting with the opposition candidate in the absence of one with the sitting president would be too provocative. But there was apparently an eagerness on the Israeli prime minister's part to talk with Romney in order to help win as broad American support as possible for the red lines he outlined in his United Nations speech with respect to the Iranian nuclear program.
As for Romney, he expects to explore Netanyahu's understanding of the red lines, and also, we are told, wants to hear Netanyahu's perspective on developments elsewhere in the Middle East.
Apparently at the request of both principals, neither of their offices has put a hard-stop on their schedules for this call, so the discussion is likely to be both substantive and substantial.
It will be interesting to hear the readouts tomorrow from both the Netanyahu and Romney camps after the "principals only" phone calland to see the White House reaction, as well.
In the summer, Netanyahu hosted Romney in Israel for dinner, hours after Romney delivered an address in Jerusalem.
Are you insinuating that Janet Napolitano does not in fact have testicles?
With regard to Bibi, good move, just go over our ridiculous little piece of trash president’s head, he’s ****ing useless.
Good.
It seems Bath House Barry was too busy.
Whoops, I meant to direct that to post # 2, sorry.
I'm sure you are absolutely correct!
... but it WON'T prevent the O'regime from having Holder arrest Romney for violating the Logan Act. He'll be released on November 7 on his own recognizance... and nothing else will come of it.
Could I buy just one more vowel?
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney has finally laid out the plans for bilateral meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will meet with him tonight in New York and President Obama will place a phone call to him, likely on Friday.

Since Obama finally decided to talk to PM Netanyahu, now Romney can. Somebody on FOX said that is why Obama didn’t meet with any heads of state— because then Romney would be entitled to.
Guess the sour milk heifers on “The View” were all booked up.
Interesting contrast analysis of the body language shown between Netanyahu and Obama's here .... Obama and Netanyahus Body Language Reveal They Cant Stand One Another ... http://drlillianglassbodylanguageblog.wordpress.com/2011/05/21/obama-and-netanyahus-body-language-reveal-they-cant-stand-one-another/
Sorry, here’s that link again ~

====I hope he leverages this on political/campaign terms.====
Or in the debates...grin
Lol to the bomb pic. I think this is probably the 4th or 5th version I’ve seen of that photo. And you can definitely tell Barry can’t stand Bibi, sort of like how it would be if Jesus and the Anti-Christ were sitting in the same room.
obammy’s supposed to call Friday, also. When he calls it would be great if the secretary told him Bibi was on the other line speaking to Presi.. er Mr. Romney.
Bibi and Mitt have been good friends since they were youngsters working at Boston Consulting Group.
I think Romney should say nothing about it other than have a surrogate claim the meeting occurred. Let President Empty Chair guess what went on,,he’s going to make up facts anyway,,,,,,
Yeah... I read that the Jewish vote this time around for the Dem’s will only be about 80% instead of the usual 90%. About the same shift is expected with the catholic vote. Yeaaaa, go figure. What’s wrong with these people?
Network News and Unions
Well, Geraldo Rivera will no doubt have a meltdown at this news! I have on Fox & Friends, and he was just on. He acknowledged that Netanyahu and Obama don’t like each other, but it’s Bibi’s fault because he is an “incendiary” personality and wants what HE wants. Also, he has been “meddling” in American politics.
Meddle on, Bibi!
On a related topic: I would like to know if Obama has allowed Romney to receive his security briefings yet?
Romney could learn a thing or two, or three, or four, or five, or six....from Netanyahu. THAT is the kind of LEADER America needs right now, not some wishy washy, spineless, lackluster, RINO pandering to people who aren’t going to vote for him, and spending all his time trying to appease and not offend the opposite side.
It’s time to get down and dirty and throw the mud back at Obama and his side, harder, if not the same, as they are throwing it at Romney, IMO.
I was hoping Romney would have made arrangements to meet with him in Person, instead of a phone call...missed opportunity
The “media” routinely ignores the fact (yes, fact) that the US had “meddled” intensively and intenionally in Israeli elections. And, it’s always the “compassionate” liberal Presidents that have no compunctions about “meddling”. Recall that Billy J Clinton sent The Serpent and The Forehead (Carville and Begala) to consult for the Labor party in elections against Likud. Saint Barry of Obama has similarly provided electoral consulting to opposition Israeli parties (particularly Labor and Kadima).
So, in the present world of Protect-Barry-at-All-Costs, Bibi “meddles” by looking out for the interests of his tiny country facing truly existential threats. Meanwhile the folks yelling “Meddler!” have no problems with their protected class actually getting intensively involved in supporting and promoting opposition Israeli candidates!
“I have a buum!”
(In my best Peter Sellers Accent.)
Bibi should do us a favor, hop on a plane and do a one on one with Mitt..
Big photo op in two easy chairs, maybe a chart with a red line on it...
Show up the poseur for what he is...
Absent without leave, empty chair, voting present, playing a fiddle...
Very funny...love it!
Very illuminating; thanks.
Woops wrong post. :(
O is dumb enough to fight against Israel - I would not have been surprised if he came up with a seven-year ‘peace’ deal - of course that will still come, from Europe.
I hope Netanyahu tells Obama to go to hell if he comes around for a meeting..
OMGosh, I had to turn off the Friends when Geraldo was ranting this morning...how Bibi had intentions of influencing the presidential race inserting himself into our politics or some such nonsense. And just so you all know, he coined the phrase “Benghazigate”...Gretchen gave the credit to someone else and he made sure she was corrected.
I saw that! What an egotistical jerk....it was a pretty awkward moment.
Excellent post. When I was complaining to my wife regarding the childish manner in which the media was treating the Prime Minister’s visual aid, I said that he should have used the obama logo for the display.
Good job.
EODGUY
Take that, Barry!
Better yet, have a joint press comfrence together.
Romney has no status to be speaking to heads of state. He needs to be quiet and remember his place. He will make a fool of himself....again...and again.
You betcha
A lot of conservatives think that if Republicans promise to go to war with countries hostile to Israel, more Jews will vote Republican. I think that these folks confuse the small number of hawkish Jews in think tanks, defense and foreign policy circles, etc, with Jews on the whole, who tend to be dovish.
In short I don’t think war threats directed at Iran will win the GOP Jewish support on balance, and are more likely to cost it some (not that it gets much anyway).
