Pat Caddell Says: Media Have Become “Enemy of the American People”
AIM ^ | September 27, 2012 | Roger Aronoff

Posted on 09/28/2012 5:52:41 AM PDT by opentalk

In remarks to the AIM conference, “ObamaNation: A Day of Truth,” on September 21 st , former Democratic pollster and analyst Pat Caddell said, “I think we’re at the most dangerous time in our political history in terms of the balance of power in the role that the media plays in whether or not we maintain a free democracy.”

Caddell noted that while First Amendment protections were originally provided to the press so they would protect the liberty and freedom of the public from "organized governmental power,” they had clearly relinquished the role of impartial news providers.

...Caddell added that it is one thing for the news to have a biased view, but “It is another thing to specifically decide that you will not tell the American people information they have a right to know.”

....they have, then, made themselves a fundamental threat to the democracy, and, in my opinion, made themselves the enemy of the American people.

Thank God for Pat Caddell: taking it to the media. They have been the enemy of the people for some time. Now it’s becoming clear to anyone who cares to pay attention.

When (the media) deserts those ramparts and goes to serve—to decide that they will now become an active participants—when they decide that their job is not simply to tell you who you may vote for, and who you may not, but, worse—and this is the danger of the last two weeks—what truth that you may know, as an American, and what truth you are not allowed to know, they have, then, made themselves a fundamental threat to the democracy, and, in my opinion, made themselves the enemy of the American people.

The press isn’t just misguided Democrat ideologues. You have to pay people to be so blatantly biased. The old media is paid by, or at least believe they’re paid by, the Democrats.

funny you mention that tree... I was thinking it was in need of watering, and though the original quote said "tyrants", we can include "traitors" in there as well.

The purpose of Liberal Agenda Media, (LAM), Polls, is to:
1.) discourage Conservatives from voting in an up coming election;
2.) discourage Conservatives from financially supporting their candidates;
and 3.) publicly promote the idea that most voters agree that Socialism will make America more successful.

Thus, LAM Polls are analogous to a dam holding back the floodwaters of REALITY from those who still bother to read, listen or watch the LAM.

Since 35 % of Americans will have the opportunity to vote early this year, the longer the LAM can keep the LAM Polls skewed, the greater their chances of fooling the early voters.

Looking at the plummeting ratings for network news, and the cratering financials at newspapers, the deal here, IMHO, is that they’ve freely decided to chuck whatever shreds of credibility they may have left to shill for Obama because, like the state governments of CA and IL, their very survival depends upon getting bailouts in a second Obama term.

I see our press compared to Pravda a lot. I think Pravda was forced by the Soviet government to report as they did. Our press is still free to report as objectively and as hard hitting on the government as want to. Unlike Pravda our press CHOOSES to report as they do. This makes them way worse than Pravda in my opinion.

But could we are seeing their unraveling right now, the death rattle in the form of the skewed polls, which has now had liftoff off of FR, and onto the Blogoshere, and into the the MSM themselves. When BO loses in November which is an almost certanity, what will be left to say. Scream voter fraud? Will that work besides except on the most fervent of partisans and to what end? They can claim ingornance and that they were mislead but by then its over. The whole smoldering pile of dung will come crashing down, when Obama on a rainy Grant Park stage gives his concession speech.

Before Obama –The Media Told Americans About Radical Islam

...with Obama as President, we are not permitted to call it by its real name. We have seen the name of America’s enemy stricken from all training manuals and government documents.

We’ve watched while the lamestream government-controlled media has replaced truth with propaganda that squashes debate and ridicules those who dare to speak the truth.

It wouldn’t surprise me that the media is staying afloat with stimulus money. They have no concern about the actual business of their industry cause obama is propping them up.

What’s sick to watch is the media openly campaigning for a dictator in sheep’s clothing. They have no clue what a dictator would do to them with enough power.

Considering the plummeting ratings of network news, along with CNN and PMSNBC, as well as the declining readership of traditional mainstream media news organizations, I would have to agree. Entities that should be folding due to lack of income are being kept afloat by somebody and I wouldn't be surprised if that somebody was the taxpayer, present and future.

All true, what you say here, Mr. McFrog.

The media, for some time now, has cared not a whit about credibility.

I believe the fiscal realities are forcing their hand, especially in the run-up to this election. For financial reasons, this race simply had to be close for all legacy media.

If the truth were told-that this race has been over since the 2010 mid-terms-then the massive revenues from ads in print and broadcast, will not have occurred.

The media, including Fox News and the Wall-Street Journal, have joined with the pollsters to paint this race as close. It's never been about credibility, it's about relevance and financial survival.

Good point in shining a spot light on their quid pro quo

MSNBC did get stimulus money, GE received bailout money, recovery act money, government contracts (medical records..Obamacare, green energy, smart grid)

their networks promote the ideology and Obama...then are rewarded with the government contracts.

The media that Caddell calls ‘enemies’ are all liberals. The broader story is that liberalism seeks to destroy America in its quest to build a secular Utopia. Liberalism is the enemy of liberty and prosperity.

For anybody remaining who still thinks that it is no different to have Romney than to have Obama, they might want to consider this: even if Obama and Romney were to do exactly the same things in office, at least with Romney there might be a criticizing and skeptical press to hold the President accountable. That is worth something.

From the Communist Goals (1963)

http://www.uhuh.com/nwo/communism/comgoals.htm

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

The media are merely traitors. A tyrant would be someone who, for example, demanded that a Christian (or anyone else with a religious objection to abortion) pay for an employee's abortions. Fortunately, we have a Constitution, one that is "the Supreme Law of the Land" and guarantees legal protection for our God-given right to the free exercise of our religion. There is no way America could be taken over by a tyrant who would ignore such a clear and absolute legal protection of our moral and human rights, is there?

Agreed. And I believe the case can be made that since the mainstream media have abrogated their responsibilities under the First Amendment, their rights and protections under same can be considered subject to forfeiture. This they have done willingly and deliberately. After all...if some in Congress are willing to consider limitations on the freedom of speech in the interest of protecting the "religious feelings" of Muslims, then it only follows that a press which fails to perform its function in the reporting of corruption in the current administration can also have its rights under the First Amendment come under scrutiny.

If a Republican were president, we’d be barraged with stories from Big Media concerning the attacked embassies and how the Pubbie president couldn’t handle foreign affairs. And they’d throw in the attacks were due to our terrible, arrogant foreign policy. But since it’s Obama in the White House, the lib media goes into COA mode. Once again, the media’s biggest sin is not the lies the print, but the truth they leave out.

Chesterton saw this 100 years ago.

...we have almost up to the last instant trusted the newspapers as organs of public opinion. Just recently some of us have seen (not slowly, but with a start) that they are obviously nothing of the kind. They are, by the nature of the case, the hobbies of a few rich men. We have not any need to rebel against antiquity; we have to rebel against novelty...It will not be necessary for any one to fight again against the proposal of a censorship of the press. We do not need a censorship of the press. We have a censorship by the press.

Mona Charen was on Fox & Friends this morning talking about the media and how they control what the public hears about. For example, when Romney made his European trip, they ignored his being endorsed by Lech Walesa and the positive reaction he received in Poland and Israel, and spent all their time on his supposed gaffe in England and on one of his staff guys supposedly being rude to the press...so that the public would think the trip was a disaster.
