No one really expected anyone in the Obama administration to make any criticism of the Wide Load did we?
This is the biggest bunch of muppets to ever hit office.
They all toe the Obama line.
Aren't snacks counter to the wookies' stop obesity program?
How about getting the federal government out of the school meals business? I don’t care what their mandatory menu is — they should have nothing to do with school lunches in the first place. It is completely beyond any federal responsibility authorized by the Constitution, at least by any normal reading of it. If there is a real need for any of this, I can’t think of anything more suitable for handling at the state and local level.
Is this a preview of the fema camp diet?
Bumblers in the WH are blind to the fact that frivolous laws teach people to break them. Watch for a black market in food at schools.
If any politicians had any spine this ought to be the ultimate teaching moment about the results of “one-size-its-all, top-down” planning of socialists / fascists / marxists.
But therein lies a new problem. Who will pay for the snacks? Sounds like some new money is needed from us to be sure the children have enough to eat since the new lunch program is more expensive but less food. Probably needs another 40% increase in budget for the snacks program.
Missing from this is the concept of each family taking care of their own children.
We’re supposed to sit around helpless and let the government feed our kids? Uh, no, make a sandwich for Junior at home, Skip.
I love the new Obama lunch plan. Think about it for a second. The worse they screw this up, the more the children learn the truth about the Federal Gov and authoritarian over reach. This whole debacle is one giant nationwide teachable moment for our youngsters. These kids arent going to forget this and it could be paving the way for a future Conservative Generation.
My thoughts exactly.
My advice is—don’t eat school lunches. Keep money out of the lib public school system.
I didn’t eat school lunches for the last two years of high school. The kids had a “fund raiser” thing at noon—sold cokes and candy bars for band or football. Ate a Snickers and a Cherry Coke out of my locker—dollar lunch—best shape of my life. Hate Snickers even now though... used the rest of the “lunch money” to buy comic books (65 to 75 cents—an extra five bucks went a long way!) and paperbacks.
How did the “maid” get in that picture?
The Worst President Ever ridicules “trickle down economics” that “put us into this mess,” when it was his Marxist agenda that has killed this economy. Yet, with all their Big Government programs, including the student-lunch fiasco, they decree what the states must do....the ultimate in “trickle down government programs.” Romney really should hop on this school lunch problem because it affects all classes of families.
It’d be funny if it wasn’t so true.
When/where are the kids supposed to eat these snacks? In class? in the hallway? on the bus? What if they pack peanut-butter crackers and accidentally pass by some kid who’s allergic? Do they have to be Michelle-approved? Bought during lunch for later? How do you keep them from eating them at lunch instead? Who pays for the kids on free lunches? On and on ...
Just let the kids choose & eat what they want from a varied offering. It can be as healthy as you want, as long as it’s something they’ll eat (hummus & black bean salads for most elementary age kids are an instant no! simply because of the appearance). And don’t prohibit home-packed lunches. I understand the allergy concerns (my grandson is highly allergic to a lot of foods) but that can be handled by letting kids/parents know at the start of the year what is prohibited.
