CBS Radio News "Now at least Federal authorities might be able to punish the filmmaker"... "
CBS news ^ | Sep 28, 2012 | Dan Raviv

Posted on 09/28/2012 10:14:41 AM PDT by Tirian

Short CBS newscast at noon (ET) Friday on the filmmaker taken into custody on probation violations. I was taken aback by Raviv say, and I checked the broadcast posted at the URL to make sure I had heard right.

Asterisks indicate spoken emphasis in the broadcast:

ANCHOR (Steve Kathan) "The man behind the anti-Islam video that sparked outrage in the Muslim world is still in jail in Los Angeles for a probation violation.

RAVIV "I'm Dan Raviv in Washington. The short movie posted on YouTube has had a lot of diplomatic impact. It was *clearly* designed to insult the Prophet Mohammed, and a senior Obama administration official told CBS News last week that no one in the Middle East seems to believe that the US government could not stop the film from getting out. Now at least Federal authorities might be able to *punish* the filmmaker."

ANCHOR The Dow is down 69. This is CBS News."

--------------------

OK, this was only a short newscast, but it seemed dance very close to blurring the line between punishment for probation violation and for the film.

This is an effort to silence speach, if I was the judge, I would hold all of these federal officers and prosecutors in contempt of court.

The courts aren’t supposed to be a tool of suppression of human rights.

"The courts aren’t supposed to be a tool of suppression of human rights."

It was a judge who ordered him not to use the internet for a specific period of time. How that judge had the right to do that is beyond me.

The Internet is a way to speak now a days, this would be the same as the judge ordering him not to write letters.

If he was using the internet to carry out fraud?

And this movie may have been one more fraud - it can’t have cost as much as some reports say.

Dan Raviv's report, "clearly designed" to chill free speech.

Americans can forget about the alphabet soup networks. The networks work for the radical islamists. btw ... there are no moderate islamists. Paid well (I hear) for their lies and anti-American activities and work for the enemies of America.

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone like Dershowitz to defend this guy and made this a public trial..

this is a 1st amendment issue, and how exactly did that 1st judge state he couldn’t use the internet ?

no email?....

I don’t get that...that is akin to stating, no TV while on probation..

Full on nazi publications and programs are published in the USA. With rants against blacks and Jews. This is LEGAL in the United States. So is this anti-muslim movie. So was Bill Maher’s anti religion screed. And half the films in Hollywood that trash Christianity.

We can’t stop freedom of speech only against Obama’s protected class.

What happened to “...but I defend to the death his right to say it”?

What has happened to our free republic?
