Greece's far-right Golden Dawn party is increasingly assuming the role of law enforcement officers on the streets of the bankrupt country, with mounting evidence that Athenians are being openly directed by police to seek help from the neo-Nazi group, analysts, activists and lawyers say.
In return, a growing number of Greek crime victims have come to see the party, whose symbol bears an uncanny resemblance to the swastika, as a "protector".
One victim of crime, an eloquent US-trained civil servant, told the Guardian of her family's shock at being referred to the party when her mother recently called the police following an incident involving Albanian immigrants in their downtown apartment block.

It appears the Golden Dawn folks have an understanding of the threat posed by Muslims the rest of the socialists don’t get. Stupid leftists; they are suicidal.
What does understanding the Muslim threat have to do with Greek police referring crime victims to a political party for help?
Does anyone think that Golden Dawn is a strange name for neo-nazi to call themselves?
The Greek police cannot handle everything that is going on. Not with the riots, the looting, the general unrest. It’s too much.
After the parliamentary elections, the Golden Dawn began to expand its policy of helping ethnic Greeks in any way they could. I believe they did an all-Greek blood drive, some food outreach programs, and what is being referred to here. Escorting individuals (generally the elderly) where they need to go so as to protect them from roaming Turkish immigrants. The elderly are increasingly becoming a target for Muslims who have nothing else to do.
A cynic might say they were shamelessly pandering for votes, but there is some logic to what they’re doing. The Islam problem in Europe is so widespread and terrifying (especially in Sweden with the rapists), that I would advocate forming local militias to protect the native population and to stand up against aggression. While the Golden Dawn are a dubious gang who have some practices I find unacceptable, what can you expect with the state of things in Greece? At least somebody is standing up to the Jihadists. I just wish the wimpy Swedes would, they’re the ones in the most trouble.
Depends. We don’t live there and we don’t understand who these people really are.
If they truly are “neo-nazis” then there are no good guys. Just two unspeakably evil groups vying to fill a power vacuum in Greece.
There is also the possibility that the media’s label of the group is intentionally inaccurate.
Given their party symbol... it doesn’t seem very likely that they are going to support freedom or liberty.
The party symbol is the Greek ‘meander’, so accusations that it is somehow tied to the swastika are unfounded. We must also recognize that such a party may have members of varying degrees of radicalism. Some may be Nazis, some may be simply nationalist. Kind of like the Democraps. Some are annoyingly obsessed with “helping” everyone, others are full-time commies.
Whatever the case, Golden Dawn are one of the more hard core backlashes against the EU sensibilities (which are fascist themselves). We might just have to wait and see what happens in Greece before we come to conclusions. The whole place is collapsing in on itself.
A picture is worth 1,000 words. There is no overt tie to the swastika. Whether the party is national socialist is more a question of their beliefs and methods than of their emblem. They are clearly anti-immigrant, but I see Obama's big government followers as closer to national socialism than Golden Dawn's followers.
This is what you get when you try to push failed Globalism/Socialism....and something tells me the Globalist/Socialists are still worse than this Golden PM Dawn group (whatever it is called)
This is what happens when “the system” fails and anarchy arises from the ashes of civilization.
I guess it’s like being in prison, you have to choose one gang or another to survive.
