Obama’s abandoned power plants (Obama uses the EPA to kill off a whole industry and energy sector)
the daily caller ^ | 9/28/2012 | Ken Blackwell

If voters knew how America’s economy would look after two terms of President Barack Obama’s administration, Mitt Romney would win in a landslide.

In the 2008 campaign, President Obama told the San Francisco Chronicle that the “notion of no coal … is an illusion.” He noted that he favors a cap-and-trade system, “[s]o if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.”

While Obama did not get to implement cap-and-trade, he found other ways to shut down coal-burning power plants.

In the name of a rigidly anti-prosperity ideology, Obama’s administration, through the Environmental Protection Agency, is continuing its war on jobs and reliable sources of energy. And like most onerous regulations, the true costs are not immediately visible.

why aren’t Republicans talking about this.

Because they are more scared of Sarah Palin than they are of "Barack Obama".

You are seeing Obama's "energy policy" at work and writ large. To wit:

1. Veto the Keystone pipeline.
Effect: Thousands of potential jobs lost. Secure source of oil (as secure as Alaskan crude) is refused in favor of continued use of Venezuelan oil.

2. "Invest" billions of dollars in alternate energy boondoggles.
Effect: A triple play. Pay off your campaign donors with taxpayers money, move the US closer to bankruptcy, seem like you are doing something.

3. Guarantee Brazilian deepwater exploration costs.
Effect: Encourage foreign energy development and help bankrupt the US.

4. Discourage domestic drilling, and stop it where you can (Gulf of Mexico).
Effect: Decrease domestic energy production, make US more dependent on foreign oil, kill the economy, make energy more expensive.

5. Kill the coal industry AND the coal to electricity generating industry.
Effect: Decrease domestic energy production, make US more dependent on foreign energy, kill the economy, make energy more expensive.

The US has a comparative advantage in energy. That is, the US has more of it and can deliver it to market in volume more cheaply and in more forms than other countries. Energy is involved in the production and transportation of virtually every good and service. Cheap, abundant energy will invigorate the economy. Cheap energy means jobs and growth.

So why is Obama making energy scarce and more expensive? Answers please.

Given the severe censorship practiced by the media, most Americans have never heard about any of this. If they knew, they might care-- but not necessarily.

The Founding Fathers were clear that representative government depended on an educated and informed electorate. Otherwise, they reasoned, self government was impossible.

This is why they deemed freedom of the press so important. The press was seen as the purveyors of information and analysis in the marketplace of ideas, self correcting in the long run, as any free market.

What they did not foresee was the breaking of the institution by a hostile project such as the Marxist Left. As a result, for the last generation we have been in the process of demonstrating the validity of their judgments.

It is also the WAY the media reports things. O says something outrageoeus and media does a ho-hum. Like: “Today O said he would abolish private property, but in other news HE IS GIVING AWAY FREE PHONES!!!”

I don't understand Romney and his handlers with this stupid talking point. "I will create 12 million jobs." Period.

I agree. Nobody can relate to "12 million jobs." It is a meaningless statistic. Just shows that all the money in Romney's war chest still can't hire advisors who know WTF they are doing.

We are supposed to have an opposition party that takes on these kind of radical notions like closing down coal energy plants. We don’t. We have one party.
