House Homeland Security Committee chairman Pete King is calling on U.N. ambassador Susan Rice to resign over her comments on the Sunday talk shows September 16 regarding the Libyan attacks.
“I think Susan Rice should resign. She is America’s foreign policy spokesman to the world as ambassador to the U.N.,” King, a Republican congressman from New York, tells National Review Online.
Rice appeared on five Sunday morning shows five days after the attacks. On ABC’s This Week, she said, “Our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that, in fact, what this began as, it was a spontaneous – not a premeditated – response to what had transpired in Cairo,” despite the fact that U.S. officials knew terrorism was involved in the attacks within 24 hours after the attack.
“Very nice person, very smart,” King says of Rice, “but the fact is she gave out information which was either intentionally or unintentionally misleading and wrong and there should be consequences for that. And I don’t see how she didn’t know how that that information was wrong. What she could have and should have said was the final word isn’t in yet, certainly strong evidence that there was strong terrorist involvement, [but identifying] the exact nature it’ll take us a few more days. That would have been legitimate.”
King also called for an investigation into what was known before the attack. “This warrants a full investigation,” he says. “I believe there should be a congressional investigation. I think there should be an internal investigation.”
Benghazi, he adds, “was a hotbed of al-Qaeda activity, of militia activity, of terrorist activity. We knew that the facilities that we were using there were not adequately fortified. These were temporary, basically private residences which had almost none of the protections that a consulate should have.”
“To allow the American ambassador to go there,” he continues, “ to allow us to keep records or documentation there or anything in such an unsecure and such a dangerous area and such unsecure facilities with such little security appears to be gross negligence, and may be criminal negligence.”
He also criticized the administration’s reluctance to call the attacks terrorism. “Either they intentionally mislead the American people or they were extremely uninformed,” King remarks. “Neither excuse is very good. From the start, I can see them saying we’re not certain what caused it, but the presumption from the start should have been that it was a terrorist attack or the terrorist were heavily involved.”
Obama, he speculates, had political reasons to avoid calling it terrorism. “What I believe now is that the president is so fixated on convincing the American people that we have defeated al-Qaeda and that al-Qaeda is no longer a real threat by saying this was a terrorist attack, or by acknowledge a terrorist attack, it would be looked upon as a defeat for his policies against al-Qaeda,” King says.
Susan Rice is a walking error. She was wrong about weapons in Iraq, wrong on Israel, wrong on Libya. She is an embarrassment to US diplomacy. An agent in-place would hardly do more damage to US interests.
Of course, she should; but like Eric Holder, she won’t!

In any normal administration Rice, Clinton and Holder would be the first 3 to be thrown out. Why not this Admin.? Obama is scared half to death of the Clintons because he knows they would go for his throat.
Obama had the perfect chance to make Libya look a lot better, but, being in his usual campaign mode, he blew it big time!
She shouldn’t resign...she should be cuffed and frog marched into court (where she should be tried for crimes against our intelligence).
I wonder who coerced Susan Rice to go on all those talk shows and repeat the lies she was told. Hillary? Obama?
It has been interesting to see how Rice (useful idiot) was set up to take the fall. And how the pieces of mass delusion are coming together to make her the “bad guy” while the real “bad guys” skate free.
As for Rep. King... no call on Hillary to resign? No call on Panetta to resign? No call on Obama to resign? Rep. King, you are an enabler and a coward.
This administration is not the least bit scared of this congress, especially the house. John Boehner is a mouse. Even in this article, King says Rice is a “Very nice person, very smart,” . The corrupt Democrats just don’t need to have much fear of Republicans in congress actually scraping up the courage to do anything. Even Darrell Issa is mostly wasting his time for all he actually accomplishes.
Hillary, Panetta, Petraeus, Rice, Holder......the list goes on and on.

Bingo! A total lack of courage and fortitude to do what is the right thing. They actually cower in fear. For all their talk, they get absolutely no where, and it’s as if it’s designed that way on purpose.

Actually, I think Susan Rice and her pal Hillary should be sent and let loose on the streets of sharia ruled countries with no armed guards and let them fend for themselves—just like they let our guys fend for themselves.

Not valid conclusion at all. My mother was a Democrat all of her life and even a Democrat election judge for 30 years. It did not and does not make me a Democrat in any way shape or form. Actions tell...not suppositions.

Should tell it like it is in Black and white terms, saying the President and staff gave her this bogus information, in direct contravention to her information and best sense but, she dutifully and now regrettably has to tell like it is....

No one cares, except for those of us paying attention. I don’t know of but 2 or 3 people at work (from both sides) that even care about world events. When you mention something that just happend they say : “huh?”
The other 50 to 75 people are unaware. Hopefully they don’t even vote. Most probably they don’t, that would be far too much trouble. They talk about sports and reality shows and that’s it. Everything else is off the radar.
God help this country and thank you LA schools.
This is a major corporation in Los Angeles I’m talking about, with hundreds of thousands of employees, populated by idiots with tattoos and studs in their faces and ears and fat people. When I listen in to a typical converstion, I hear:
