‘Killing Is The Solution,’ Gang Member Tells Walter Jacobson (Hope and Change in Obamaville)

Gangbangers in Chicago: What makes them tick, what are they thinking?

CBS 2’s Walter Jacobson sat down with gang members in Chicago’s troubled Englewood neighborhood to try to find some answers.

Some of the responses he received were not encouraging.

“There’s no solution to the violence,” one gang member tells him. “Killing, killing is the solution.”

Jacobson asked the young man if he would kill personally, if he had to.

“I’ve never killed before, but if I had a gun in my possession,” he said.

Jacobson says he has been walking the blocks for many years, but the state of despair never changes – poverty, sticks and stains.

The gang members do not like the state of affairs any more than anyone else.

“We’ve got to eat. We want to. We want money. We want to get fresh, we want fresh eggs almost every day. We want all that,” another young man said.

But where do they get the money they need? The young man answered bluntly.

“Rob, steal and kill. That’s the only way. We didn’t grow up in Beverly Hills. We don’t get it handed to us,” he said.

“We ain’t living in Hyde Park,” added a third young man. The home of the University of Chicago is only a couple of miles away from Englewood – geographically, at least.

But given the state of their impoverished Englewood neighborhood, where is the money they can get?

“Selling drugs,” a young man replied. “In our neighborhood, I ain’t going to lie to you. That’s where the money comes from.”

Some of the young men were brought into gangs as children. Isn’t that pretty young to play gang warfare?

A young man answered: “I chose the gang. I didn’t have to choose anything. I was only 10. My OG (old gangster) gave me everything. But I just went on my own and I chose to get in the gang. We was whipping everybody in the neighborhood. Respect. I was getting money.”

The gang members also said they are at war with the Chicago Police Department.

“The police hate us,” a young man said. “Every time they ride past us, they shoot us down and do all that. Do what you want to do, I don’t care about you all, keep riding. Who are you all? We’re not scare of you all. I’ll fight you too. Take that badge off.”

But he says the police cannot catch them or exact any consequences.

“I laugh at the police,” he said. “They’re a joke to me.”

And where would the young men like to be in 10 years?

One of them replied, “in a mansion, with a lot of cars, and a lot of women.”

Another said, “I just hope I’m still living.”

This article angers me. It is a legacy of the progressive agenda. Government dependency and falling prey to the race-baiting hucksters that make these districts solid Demoncrap voting blocs.

I find it funny that he references "Hyde Park" in his comments. Isn't that the home of a couple of progressive leaders who are trying to "help" the poor? Like a certain Professor Bill Ayers and a certain former "professor" Barry Soetoro?

What these people need is to be freed of the bonds of government slavery.

Walter Jacobson himself is a flaming progressive. Decades ago he was teamed with Bill Kurtis on a nightly Chicago news show. Kurtis went on to do documentaries, Jacobson continues to do stories like this that do little but show the underbelly of democrat programs. They give no answers they only show the effects of the problem. The answers would upset Jacobson so he skirts around them.

These people seem to see a world divided in two:

Some folks are born in Beverly Hills. Everything is handed to them. They live in mansions with lots of women.
Others are just born black.

Perhaps, through robbing and killing, some blacks may also live in mansions with lots of women. Hope and Change, man. Hope and Change.

If these thugs get their dream, they will create a Somalia in the US. They act like the warlords in 3rd world countries and that’s what their neighborhoods turn into. They are cesspools with little chance of getting better until the vermin is destroyed.

I can only imagine how proud Bill Ayers and the other Chicago reformers must feel when they hear and see the result of their policies.

There are members of this board who claim with a straight face that once the EBT cards no longer buy anything of value that these guys will give up their evil ways and become productive citizens.

By vermin, I assume you mean "community organizers" and progressive politicians.

Good Lord, it's like listening to a little girl hating on someone prettier than her....

I am a member of this board who claim with a straight face that as long as the society of this area live through government dependence (a/k/a slavery), the problem will only get worse. The government programs that sustain and enslave these people are directly responsible for producing reprobates like the ones interviewed in this article.

Will these ones give up their evil ways and become productive citizens? I doubt it. Not because I think they are inherently evil, but because deprogramming a lifetime of experience is a virtual impossibility. And that's even if you managed to get rid of all the hucksters who programmed them.

Do you see them robbing, raping, and killing their neighbors?

Today’s feral street ape owes much of his existence to LBJ’s ‘Great Society’, where central planning’s intended cure made conditions dramaticaly worse. Liberalism, if it is anything at all, is the shabby notion that you can collectively make life fair, while willfully ignoring the unintended consequences of economic and social mayhem.

—— “Rob, steal and kill. That’s the only way. -——

Good thing apprenticeships are illegal. Good thing for minimum age work restrictions. Good thing for the minimum wage. Good thing for compulsory attendance laws.

If you were a twelve year old kid born to a welfare mom, what would you do? School is nothing more than prison. And just like adult prisoners, kids learn the tools of the criminal trade there. Escape from the cycle requires a herculean effort.

I was a Big Brother to a welfare kid for over 10 years. Single welfare mother with live-in boyfriend working under the table.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.

His real father was an absolute degenerate. Trust me on that one.

I was very proud of my “little” when he got a job after graduating from trade school, where all but one of the girls in one of his senior classes was pregnant.

I hadn’t seen him in about 18 years when I bumped into a relative of his. He’s now divorced, with a restraining order on him.

I’ll always remember him as a really sweet kid.

No. But as the saying goes, "pay no attention to that man behind the curtain."

That man behind the curtain isn't committing the crimes, so why pay him any attention?

"welfare kid"

But have liberals ever admitted the gigantic failure of the Great Society and perpetual welfare programs in general? Now Obama would like to gut welfare by eliminating work requirements again. Their failure to learn lessons never ceases to amaze me. The best thing that could happen for poor Black Americans is to have welfare virtually shut off. If Johnson's Great Society programs didn't underline the basic stupidity of all governmentally-directed methods to help poor people by shoveling a mountain of tax money on it , nothing did.

This could all stop relatively quickly. Wanna get subsidized housing? Be prepared to live - short term - in a gated, guarded facility that provides a cooktop, minifridge, bathroom and open room with beds. No cable outlet, no televisions, no swimming pools, and no basketball court. You will be uncomfortable in your poverty.

Wanna get free food? Be prepared to make a daily trip to the food distribution center where you will be provided with enough fresh food for you and your family for the day. You will not be given a EBT card, you will be given healthy nourishment.

You will also be required to attend on site training and if you fail to attend, you're out. No more 'idle hands'.

I see trash like that every day on my way to work. Just hang out at the corner of LaSalle and Jackson and you'll see exactly what I mean.

They point their little gun-fingers at me and they won't like what they see back, that's for damn' sure!
