CHULA VISTA, Calif. A Border Patrol agent fatally shot a 32-year-old mother of five Friday in suburban San Diego as he rode on the hood of her car after she ran into him, authorities and family members said.
The agent fired after being driven several hundred yards on the hood, Chula Vista police Capt. Gary Wedge told The Associated Press. The woman was later identified in a police statement as Valeria Alvarado.

He did the right thing clearly from the facts available.
We'll see the whaaaambulances out soon. Good Grief.
Now her kids will grow up hating Americans even more.
Yet another reason to not allow illegal-immigration.
Bad people doing bad things... then in the RARE instance they get what their actions deserve, you have a whole communities and families forever dedicated against our national interests.
There are NO good outcomes to allowing free-flowing illegal immigration of any kind.
If she was legal, well then chalk this up to a criminal being a criminal. Most families of criminals don’t hate the government/nation.
The families reaction will be very telling to her true motives.
I don’t care how much in shock you may be, if there is a man you DON’T intend harm to on the hood of your car, you don’t keep going and going, you stop and let them down.... unless you are a criminal or up to something no good.
Translation: I want $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
My guess: She thought he was going to arrest her, so she freaked and tried to flip him off the car. Maybe she was stupid enough to not realize she could easily kill him doing that, maybe not. Evil woman? Stupid woman who watched too many movies where people walk away from being flipped off of cars? Reality bites.
He’s going to go to jail (sigh)!
I don’t think your scenario makes sense.... she DROVE FOR hundreds of YARDS!
After a minute you’d realize your “flip” didn’t work...??
Then she made a conscious decision to keep going and going, hoping for what exactly?
Stupid or Evil, either way, If I’m the agent I’m not letting some stupid person take my life.
My younger brother pointed out that anyone can tell I’m from the the “Charlie Brown generation”, as I continue to use the phrase “good grief”......
This close to the border (7 miles or less), if a man not wearing a uniform tries to stop your car, there are better than average odds that they are a violent criminal. Armed carjacking is a strong likelihood. I would hazard to guess that the agent is Hispanic as well.
And because other agents were in the immediate vicinity, it was even more likely she thought they were a gang. According to the story she grew up there, so she knew the place.
However, since she was moving, if he pulled a gun, she should have slammed on her brakes. Once he was off her car, she should have then sped off and headed to the nearest police station.
Was she protesting that mohammad film?
You cannot reason with irrational people.
Lots we don’t know and seems to be conflicting stories at the present time. Who knows what the truth is but hopefully it will be determined.....
Witnesses in the area at the time of the shooting told NBC 7 San Diego they saw Alvarado slowly driving in reverse as the agent opened fire on her at least six times.
“As the car was backing up the officer was in the street walking toward the car, and discharging, recalled witness Prince Watson.
I heard it, Pow, pow, and just told my family to get down, said witness Ayanna Evans.
Witnesses believe Alvarado may have accidentally struck the agent and panicked when he told her to stop and pulled out his gun.

32 and a mother of 5???
I’ll be 31 in Jan. does that sync up?
Whose fault is that, the officer's whose life was in peril on the hood of the car, or the mother's whose actions put the officer in mortal danger?
32 and a mother of 5???
The children range in age from 3 to 17.....
It will be the woman’s husband and both of their families.
According to the San Diego Tribune he was plainclothes. So not sure if she thought he was some nut trying to hurt her or if she knew he was a BP agent and trying to harm him.
Libs accusing the agent of racism and saying the driver was only defending herself. Good grief.
When did he pull out his gun. It's hard to imagine doing so and holding onto the hood of a car at the same time.
The fact that he was not in uniform lends credence to your theory.
Conflicting info at the present time or so it seems to me. If in fact she hit him and he rode the hood for a ways then she stopped and began to back up at which time he got off the car and shot her then it will be interesting to see the charges to be filed.
Who knows what happened at this time.
I think yours is a fair interpretation of the facts AS GIVEN. My guess is that this story still has a lot of legs from both sides.
"Witnesses in the area at the time of the shooting told NBC 7 San Diego they saw Alvarado slowly driving in reverse as the agent opened fire on her at least six times.
As the car was backing up the officer was in the street walking toward the car, and discharging, recalled witness Prince Watson.
Someone is lying.
It was during a coordinated arrest action that she went bezerk and ran into the officer. The area was swarmed with marked vehicles and BP Agents in full uniforms. . .backing up the “plains clothed” Agents.
(Note the article doesn't mention the fact that uniformed officers and marked cars were present. Also, please note the article says she grew up around there but doesn't mention she was an illegal alien).
She KNEW he was part of the arrest effort and tried to run him over.
She grew up there and most certainly can tell the difference between BP and “gangs.”
Investigation will reveal just how criminal she actually was and why she ran (illegal alien and drugs or involved in kidnapping/ransom. . .who knows)
She isn't too bright, after all, how many kids? And the oldest is 17 (and she is 32. . . .)
Other reports have her name as Valeria Munique Tachiquin (AKA Valeria Alvarado)
And then this from the Huff Puff Post:
“Hector Salazar, one of several neighbors who witnessed the incident, said he saw a man in civilian clothes on the hood of a black car aiming a gun at the windshield.
“Salazar told U-T San Diego the man started pulling the trigger, and he heard about five shots. Moments later, other plainclothes agents approached the car, he said.”
Charlie Brown was a 60’s & 70’s culture.
But, Certainly his specials have persisted through the years.
The big missing part of the story is what led up to this woman trying to run over the agent in the first place? How did it begin? Was this woman a target, or just some idiot passerby? Was she an illegal who has dumped her litter of 5 anchor babies on American taxpayers? Why was there a squad of agents in the vicinity? I think drugs are involved. Lots of drugs.
Why don’t they reenact the crime by putting the husband on the hood of car and see how quick he fears for his life being stuck on the hood of a moving car
According to this article she was a US citizen.
One witness described a man on the car, aiming a gun at the windshield, and two witnesses described the car backing up slowly with no one on it as someone yelled stop, walking towards the car and shooting.
So at this point, too much conflicting information still needs to be sorted out.
I don't, either, but I thought I'd put it out for the sake of completeness. Sometimes stupid is as stupid does; sometimes people are just bad to the bone.
According to this article she was a US citizen.
Where does it say she was a US Citizen? It mentions she grew up in the area an other articles say she went to high school in Chula Vista.
According to the Southern Border Community Coalition (not authorities), and SOBOCO is an anti-Border Patrol organization (http://soboco.org/).
More info will follow.. .
Next to last paragraph.
“Christian Ramirez of the Southern Border Community Coalition to the U-T the shooting was “troubling,” in part because Alvarado was not wanted by law enforcement authorities and was a U.S. citizen.”
They made that as a matter-of-fact statement. So unless you have someone, anyone in authority, claim that she was an illegal alien, I will take she was a citizen at face value.
Thanks. Articles I’d read talked about her being from the area but never saw the citizenship notation. It will be interesting to what the final results show of this event and what actually happened.
Yeah this story does not pass the smell test to me. Now maybe the reporter got the story wrong or omitted something. There has to be more.
Not the one who calls the English teacher "Daddy-oh."
A U.S. Border Patrol agent fatally shot a woman through the windshield of her car Friday afternoon after he was dragged several hundred feet down a residential street in the San Diego suburb of Chula Vista, federal authorities said.
Fearing for his life, he discharged his weapon, striking the driver who died at the scene, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a statement.
This version says he was dragged several hundred feet vastly different than he was parked on the hood .
From a BP Agent on the scene: “Typical liberal press BS, like the agent was just taking a ride on her hood for fun. She ran him down and he was EMBEDDED in her windshield. Completely good shoot. The fact that no other agents fired is because they would have hit him. We think she was there to transport a load, and she freaked when they began the warrant service.”. . .and he says she was illegal.
