CHULA VISTA, Calif. A Border Patrol agent fatally shot a 32-year-old mother of five Friday in suburban San Diego as he rode on the hood of her car after she ran into him, authorities and family members said.
The agent fired after being driven several hundred yards on the hood, Chula Vista police Capt. Gary Wedge told The Associated Press. The woman was later identified in a police statement as Valeria Alvarado.

According to the San Diego Tribune he was plainclothes. So not sure if she thought he was some nut trying to hurt her or if she knew he was a BP agent and trying to harm him.
Libs accusing the agent of racism and saying the driver was only defending herself. Good grief.
When did he pull out his gun. It's hard to imagine doing so and holding onto the hood of a car at the same time.
The fact that he was not in uniform lends credence to your theory.
Conflicting info at the present time or so it seems to me. If in fact she hit him and he rode the hood for a ways then she stopped and began to back up at which time he got off the car and shot her then it will be interesting to see the charges to be filed.
Who knows what happened at this time.
I think yours is a fair interpretation of the facts AS GIVEN. My guess is that this story still has a lot of legs from both sides.
"Witnesses in the area at the time of the shooting told NBC 7 San Diego they saw Alvarado slowly driving in reverse as the agent opened fire on her at least six times.
As the car was backing up the officer was in the street walking toward the car, and discharging, recalled witness Prince Watson.
Someone is lying.
It was during a coordinated arrest action that she went bezerk and ran into the officer. The area was swarmed with marked vehicles and BP Agents in full uniforms. . .backing up the “plains clothed” Agents.
(Note the article doesn't mention the fact that uniformed officers and marked cars were present. Also, please note the article says she grew up around there but doesn't mention she was an illegal alien).
She KNEW he was part of the arrest effort and tried to run him over.
She grew up there and most certainly can tell the difference between BP and “gangs.”
Investigation will reveal just how criminal she actually was and why she ran (illegal alien and drugs or involved in kidnapping/ransom. . .who knows)
She isn't too bright, after all, how many kids? And the oldest is 17 (and she is 32. . . .)
Other reports have her name as Valeria Munique Tachiquin (AKA Valeria Alvarado)
And then this from the Huff Puff Post:
“Hector Salazar, one of several neighbors who witnessed the incident, said he saw a man in civilian clothes on the hood of a black car aiming a gun at the windshield.
“Salazar told U-T San Diego the man started pulling the trigger, and he heard about five shots. Moments later, other plainclothes agents approached the car, he said.”
Not exactly....
Charlie Brown was a 60’s & 70’s culture.
(I’m 59)
But, Certainly his specials have persisted through the years.
The big missing part of the story is what led up to this woman trying to run over the agent in the first place? How did it begin? Was this woman a target, or just some idiot passerby? Was she an illegal who has dumped her litter of 5 anchor babies on American taxpayers? Why was there a squad of agents in the vicinity? I think drugs are involved. Lots of drugs.
Why don’t they reenact the crime by putting the husband on the hood of car and see how quick he fears for his life being stuck on the hood of a moving car

According to this article she was a US citizen.
One witness described a man on the car, aiming a gun at the windshield, and two witnesses described the car backing up slowly with no one on it as someone yelled stop, walking towards the car and shooting.
So at this point, too much conflicting information still needs to be sorted out.
I don't, either, but I thought I'd put it out for the sake of completeness. Sometimes stupid is as stupid does; sometimes people are just bad to the bone.
According to this article she was a US citizen.
Where does it say she was a US Citizen? It mentions she grew up in the area an other articles say she went to high school in Chula Vista.
According to the Southern Border Community Coalition (not authorities), and SOBOCO is an anti-Border Patrol organization (http://soboco.org/).

Next to last paragraph.
“Christian Ramirez of the Southern Border Community Coalition to the U-T the shooting was “troubling,” in part because Alvarado was not wanted by law enforcement authorities and was a U.S. citizen.”
They made that as a matter-of-fact statement. So unless you have someone, anyone in authority, claim that she was an illegal alien, I will take she was a citizen at face value.
Thanks. Articles I’d read talked about her being from the area but never saw the citizenship notation. It will be interesting to what the final results show of this event and what actually happened.
