SFC Speer's Killer Leaves Gitmo ( to Canada )
The Weekly Standard ^ | Sep 29, 2012 | THOMAS JOSCELYN

Posted on 09/29/2012 8:25:23 AM PDT by george76

Omar Khadr has been sent from Guantanamo to Canada, after returning from the jihad in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Khadr is slated to stay in custody for the time being. It is difficult to think of a more mythologized figure in the post-9/11 war on terror. For the worldwide left, Khadr has become a symbol of all that is supposedly wrong with America’s fight against the al Qaeda terror network. He is now, in many minds, a victim. For one Canadian magazine, Omar Khadr is even a Christ-like figure.

But let us briefly review the facts about Omar Khadr.

Khadr killed Sergeant First Class (SFC) Christopher Speer. Khadr’s advocates said this wasn’t true because Khadr was incapacitated during al Qaeda’s firefight with American troops. But they were wrong. Khadr ultimately admitted that he killed SFC Speer.

While Khadr killed one American medic, his life was saved by others. Khadr would not be alive today if U.S. medics had not saved him from extensive wounds.

Joint Task Force Guantanamo (JTF-GTMO) considered Khadr a “high intelligence value” detainee because he provided “valuable information” about al Qaeda and the Taliban. Khadr’s father was a top al Qaeda figure. Khadr knew his father’s associates well, and spilled the beans on them.

Khadr served as a translator and a minion to a top al Qaeda operative in Afghanistan.

Just so everyone knows, the Canadian government did not want this scumbag returned to Canada. The government fought against his return in the courts. The US could have kept him indefinitely and the Harper government would not have protested.

Obama's policy is, of course, to close Gitmo. To do so, you first have to release all the inmates. This release is a step towards that goal.

Couldn’t Canada have refused to take him?

According to Wiki, he was born in Toronto. That makes him a Canadian citizen (spit). He cannot be denied entry to Canada.

If push comes to shove, the Americans could literally put him on a bus and send him north. He cannot be denied entry.

Why not just put him on an aircraft and push him out the door when in Canadian airspace?

The Canadian government can tell the world how useful he was to the intel community and how his contributions were essential in killing hundreds of jihadis and preventing scores of attack on Allied forces.

They can then go one to say how much they are looking forward to working with him as a free man in Trendy Toronto, much more convenient than Gitmo, and expect he will help them mop up sleeper cells in Canada.

Then drop him off in front of the most malignant mosque in Canada...

This scumbag is no positive addition to Canadian society. He is unwanted garbage.

Why did the US army medic save him in Afghanistan? Why is the US releasing him? Why not just take him for a helo ride at Gitmo and give him his freedom from 4,000 feet?

N and V, you are way behind the curve. Read my posts. The Canadian government does not want him. They would be happy for the US to keep him in Gitmo.

There was no government to government pressure for his release. The Americans could have kept him forever.

Look to your own government, they are releasing terrorists all the time. Don't blame Canada.

Think that through. How would his ever lovin’ buddies respond to all that?

And yes, the government in my country has no relationship to honor, decency, or any representation of the will of the people.

God willing, we will change that come November 6th.

Just think about the thought process that goes into dealing with un-uniformed terrorists.
They should be dealt with by firing squad and laid in an open grave to rot as a warning
to the rest of them. But now that PC has taken over the world leadership
positions and placating to the whims of a minority is quo, we've grown into a pansy mansy
pipe dream world where nobody wants to deal with reality.

Well, the reality is that these killers and Terrorists are not going anywhere
but hell, and they don't care how they get there so long as they take a few of us with them.
But hey, that just happens to "other people" right?

Politicians are scared to act Properly in dealing with terrorism because
they may lose their plush job, and are constantly lambasted and warned not to
do anything outside of feeding terrorists grapes from the vine. Sometimes these leaders
need to hear the silent "majority" who support lethal actions against Terrorism.
The silent Majority needs to step up to the plate and start drowning out the
flower child leftovers from the 60s and those youths who are just now becoming aware
that the world does not revolve around them.

The proper quote here would be about good men doing nothing for evil to prevail.

Don't know, don't care. I just don't want him back here.

And yes, the government in my country has no relationship to honor, decency, or any representation of the will of the people.

You forgot rationality or a desire for self-preservation.

God willing, we will change that come November 6th.

Amen.

IIRC, Ezra Levant (Sun News) was furious about this. I thought the libs in Canada were celebrating this terrorist’s release. I must check this out later.

For years the lefty media up here was showing pictures of “poor little Omar” that one could compare to the pictures of “poor little Trayvon”.
Little Omar was not a misguided youth by any stretch of the imagination. He is (was) a hard core terrorist.

Can we at least throw a little lime on top to keep the stench down...?

Or, he could have them ditg a big ditch, push a bunch of "stuff" into it, seal it over with a bunch of steel-reinforced concrete and put a big "toxic waste" sign on it...
