Candidate Obama, an orator of great skill and cadence, might have overcome everything and put the U.S. on a brighter path. President Obama, unfortunately, fell short of the challenge. The wars have largely faded from headlines, but the economic struggles remain, along with an attendant worry about future federal spending, deficits and debt.
Obamas Democratic supporters would argue that no one could have succeeded in what he inherited, that the nations problems were far more severe than anyone could handle in four years.
We respectfully disagree. On the central issue that will define his presidency a stalled U.S. economy weighed down by crushing annual deficits and accumulated debt Obama showed himself to be less leader than follower. While he expended his political capital on new government programs, unemployment stayed at debilitating heights.
For that reason, this newspaper recommends Republican challenger Mitt Romney for president.
We see evidence of Obamas shortcomings in his re-election campaign, a relentlessly negative push to disqualify his opponent instead of standing on his accomplishments. His campaign has worn voters patience thin by constantly blaming predecessor George W. Bush for the mess he left behind.
Cleaning up that mess, however large, was what Americans trusted to Obama.
Romney had to survive a fractious primary by steering too far right on some issues. At his core, however, we see him as a Chamber of Commerce Republican, more attuned to business interests than the tea party/social conservatism that defines todays GOP.
Importantly, Romney speaks the language of industry.
Obama himself once said that if he didnt repair the economy in three years, this would be a one-term proposition. The facts show its time for a principled, pragmatic leader who can get Washington working again.

In short: Yes we endorse Romney, but he still sucks. Just not as bad as Obama.
Maybe in four years the conservative movement will do what it has failed to do since 1984: Raise up a movement conservative presidential nominee.
Note to self: go back and read the comments tomorrow morning.
How anyone could have bought into obama is, of course, beyond us.
Having dis-connected yourself (going rogue) you may have missed the resurgence...
Still, you efforts are not in vain, as we know how the Book ends.
I prefer to fight first and then retreat if need be. In my neck of the woods, we’ll do what we can.
F THE OBAMANATION. We didn’t buy it 4 years ago and A LOT of folks have awakened now. Vote Paul Ryan. That’s what I’m doing. I’d vote for Captain Kangaroo if he was the nom. Obviously. ABO.
Thanks for this thread.
I noticed that the topics of “stewardship” and “regulation” were not mentioned in the editorial. Guess those are two concepts that the editor still hasn’t discovered.
Fortunately for Conservatives, Reagan captured Democrats and Independents to win the elections.
The Dallas Morning News???
Is this some kind of reverse psychology?
Who next, the Philadelphia Inquirer?
Coincidence that the story posted above this one here on FR says Earthquake felt in Dallas this morning? ;)
Guess DMN still has some righties on board
There was a time kiddies that the Dallas Morning News was Bircher like...ah the good old days
The Times Herald were the lefties
Good to see this
I bet Chattanooga Free Press endorses Mitt too....not many righty daily rags left
I’ll skip the “F” notation, I would rather see Obama destroyed politically for all eternity, and....his dirt bag Demcorat Party with him!!! However, friend, I am with you all the way!!! ABO (Anyone But Obama). Shucks, I’d vote for a blind monkey with one hand tied behind his back before I would vote for Obama and his racist, hate America wife, Michelle!! Americans, politically flush these destroyers of America down the toilet into the forever cesspool of failure where they so rightly belong!!!
I’m astounded that the DMN actually allowed those words to be communicated!
The DMN is a far left liberal rag, like the Austin Statesman, Fort Worth Star Telegram and Houston Chronicle.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve always thought this publication a liberal rag?
If I’m right this is GOOD news.
Before DMN was purchased by BELO corp. it was a fairly right-leaning newspaper. Don’t find many of those these days.
Amazing that some newspapers that are just right in line with the Wash Post, NY Times and AP will also run an editorial like that. Weird.
The Morning Snooze always favors every public spending project to the hilt
I remember 2004.
They ran an editorial chastising the press that Bush’s ANG record had already been vetted and the AWOL crap was garbage.
Then they ran about 30 front page stories about Bush and AWOL during the campaign.
Cannot trust the MSM ever
