ov. Jerry Brown on Sunday signed a bill that will allow hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants to obtain driver's licenses.
Times reporter Anthony York will discuss these issues and others related to the flurry of bill-signings during a Google+ Hangout at 12:30 p.m. You can ask questions below or on Twitter using the hashtag #asklatimes.
The driver's license measure will make illegal immigrants eligible to drive legally in California if they qualify for a new federal work permit program. Before too long los Californos will be coming to the congress asking for a bail-out for their public employees’ pensions.
We should tell them to go s*** in their sombreros.
Since most people, including illegals, want to be able to drive, this seems like a good way to develop a database on these people that otherwise might be under the radar.
They have a minimum two year work visa.
As far as I know, all immigrants with work visas are eligible for a USA drivers license.
As to the legality of the DREAM Act...
That's another story.
This bill, piggy-backed to Motor/ Voter, also allows for a fresh infusion of Democratic-registered voters. Yaaaaayh!
And a photo ID.....Just in case.
If they are undocumented, how do they know how old they are? Do they know somehow that they are at least 16?
There’s a yin/yang component to just about everything...
California state law REQUIRES DMV employees to give out Voter Registration materials to EVERYONE who applies for a Califorina driver’s license.
There is enough time before the election for many of these illegals to register to VOTE!!!
