Video: Herman Cain Schools Anti-American College Hecklers
Townhall.com ^ | October 1, 2012 | Guy Benson

Posted on 10/01/2012 3:24:28 PM PDT by Kaslin

Former presidential candidate and successful CEO Herman Cain participated in a jobs forum at the University of Michigan last week.  During his presentation, Cain told several hundred students that they'll enjoy at least one significant advantage when the enter the job market, triggering an interesting response from a handful of hecklers:

Cain: "This is the greatest country in the world."

Students: "Not," "It's not!"

The rest of the audience gasped, booed, and a few chanted "U-S-A."  Cain then launched into an epic impromptu monologue about the greatness of America -- her liberties, her prosperity, her military strength, and her opportunities -- bringing the crowd to its feet.  Pure awesome:

"If this is not the greatest country in the world, leave!"

For more data and perspective on America's singular exceptionalism on the landscape of world history, read thisthis, this and this.  It's also interesting to note which end of our domestic political spectrum spends the most energy informing their fellow Americans that our nation really isn't all that great: Entitled undergraduates (see above), the ranting, fictional "news" anchors, as imagined by Hollywood, sanctimonious blowhards and fawning Sinophiles at the New York Times, and, at times, even the President of the United States.  I can think of no more eloquent recent paean to America's exceptional greatness than Condoleezza Rice's address at the Republican National Convention (17:25 for a highlight):

See you're still pushing the old 'too much conservatism goin' on" theory.

There were 16 candidates officially signed up to run. Only 3 of them were lifelong Conservative Republicans.

Who were those other people? Not lifelong Conservatives by a long shot ~ some were even members of different parties!

This is an RNC problem ~ they need to control the use of the franchise and the name a lot better!

I’m looking at Herman in the rear view mirror and he has almost disappeared. Who was correct: me, who told everyone quickly Cain had no chance or those who fell for his schtick?

The RNC has nothing to do with state laws controlling ballot access.

Bachmann, Santorum, Perry, Newt, are all conservatives.

Why would you falsely claim I complain about “too much” conservatism when clearly my complaint is that there is too much stupidity goin’ on? Such stupidity prevents consolidation around a viable conservative if there was one available.

My complaint is meaningless since “conservatives” have repeatedly attacked their own in every election. They are easy to beat and rarely can win a statewide office (winners are inevitably attacked by “real” conservatives as “sellouts” and “RINOs”.

Almost anyone capable of winning a statewide election is the enemy of the “real” conservatives.

Your name selections are quite wrong. I said 3 were LIFELONG Conservative Republicans ~ apparently you are not aware of the histories behind the candidates.

Then what do you imagine the RNC does? Sure, the states pass their own laws, at the request of the parties, and they get guidance on these matters (Plus allocations of delegates depending on degree of conformance) from the RNC.

Priebus and the state committee chairmen seem to have little interest in protecting the franchise.

It is time to create a new RNC and invite the state parties to designate new chairmen to attend.

At first glance that looks like one of those incredibly stupid 'have-you-stopped-beating-your-wife' trick questions. But it's actually not. The answer is you have been full of crap since the first idiotic premise you set down here and the question is just the tail end of the same turd.

20 yrs is a political life. Not to mention what was a “conservative” 20, 40 yrs ago is considered a “RINO” around here.

I am aware of every major political figure general biography in the United States and have been for 50 yrs.

But I am not interested in the Inside Baseball theories which abound.

Yes, you are correct - It was ME who told everyone Cain was a joke and had NO chance. This is the interpretation of your outburst of verbal diarrhea.

Protection of the franchise has been the motivation to pass voter id laws in state after state where almost inevitably the courts prevent them from being implemented. Nothing the RNC can do about that, other than funding lawyers to fight the judges.

I suppose that were we driving down some South American mountain and at a hairpin turn, you would turn around in the driver’s seat and proclaim “someone else should drive.”

I guess all thanks should go to you then that our candidate is a lying, liberal, anti-gun, pro-gay, pro-abort sack of dog feces.

Thanks!

Wow, your mental illness is getting out of hand. Have you stopped taking your medicine again? You know you can’t listen to the voices in your head any more.

16 candidates in this year’s primaries and you have no idea which three were the only lifelong Conservative Republicans in the mix ~ your awareness does not translate well into understanding.

You even missed the subtle nuance ~ the party 'franchise' is a whole 'nuther can of worms than the 'voting franchise' or 'right to vote'.

Do you live here?

Keep moving forward.

Before you continue with your hysterical vitriol you should know that I have never voted for Mitt for any position or in a primary. He was not my candidate in any way. My guys were losers like yours.

But NOW he is the Man.

After my guy, Perry, self-destructed it became clear that Mitt was going to be the candidate so there wasn’t much to pay attention to. I liked Santorum but knew he had no chance. Same with Newt and Michele. Cain was always a joke not to be taken seriously.

Ronald Reagan was not a “life-long Republican,” so other than as the answer to a trivia question, I don’t care. What I care about is what is believed NOW.

But NOW he is the Man.

Now we're regressing from 3rd grade. LOL
