Romney Losing Donors to GOP House, Senate Candidates
Foxnews ^

Posted on 10/01/2012 7:40:42 PM PDT by chessplayer

The Romney campaign is experiencing what some officials believe could be the beginning of a mass exodus of big money donors diverting their cash away from the Republican presidential hopeful and toward Republican candidates for the House and Senate races more likely to win in November, the FOX Business Network has learned.

The trend isn’t at the acute stage, at least not yet, said one person with direct knowledge of the matter. This person, a major player in Romney’s New York fundraising circles, confirmed to FOX Business that a few New York donors have backed away from financial commitments to the Romney campaign and instead said they will spend their money to help the Republicans hold on to the House of Representatives, and pick up seats in the Senate.

But another person with direct knowledge of the matter says the trend, though nascent, is more geographically broad based, and reflects an increasing degree of anxiety both with what they believe is the tentative nature of the Romney campaign, and recent poll numbers that show President Obama with a lead, particularly in key battleground states, that some Republican contributors are starting to believe is insurmountable.

BS!
Don’t let these morons play with your head.

Coat tails are important, and even if Romney did not win, a very good showing by Romney will help us in all of the Senate and House races.

I actually think Romney will win 53% of the popular vote.

I believe this is the case as well, but if Romney loses, I don't think it will be because "it was Romney". Do people honestly think Santorum would be doing better? THIS IS THE MEDIA If we lose this election, there are only two explanations. Either this country is so stupid that it can't even see what a terrible president Obama is, or the media have succeeded in covering up every single thing that this president has done. Cadell is right. The media in this country are becoming a threat to the nation. Their blatant bias in favor of the communist is on Chavez-levels. ANYBODY should be able to beat Obama at this point. No president in history has won on such a record. The only explanation lies not in Romney, but by the misinformation and propaganda spread by supposedly "reliable" news organizations. Romney is not running the greatest campaign ever, but it's much better than McLame's. He wouldn't have said a word after Libya. Romney did, and what happened? The media ambushed him and spent two weeks talking about his "gaffe" instead of the four dead Americans. Despite this, I still think that we will win, and Glenn Beck explained it well. The Soros angle. This is what George Soros does. Makes the polls show things going one way, when they are really going the other. When the results come out on election day, people say "he stole it.", "the polls didn't say that", "cheat!" George Soros doesn't collapse countries before elections. He collapses them after

Once again the FReeper hand wringers are out in force, doing what they do best: responding with “woe is us” and fear.

You guys are an embarrassment! I cannot believe you guys are lapping this sh*t up! But hey, why should this surprise anyone. It was FReepers who were helping Politico gain ground with their hit pieces on our candidates.

Sorry, but Rush is right on this. This election is far from over, and these polls are utter and complete B.S. But hey, don't let me or any other folks take away the hard on you get from your doom and gloom.

There is only so much money to spread around. The House and Senate are important too. Regaining the Senate is imperative. It will insure Romney gets his Supreme Court nominations through the Senate.

If the WH is not turned over this year, the House and Senate are meaningless. He will do everything by Executive Order and the Congress will be unable to stop him.

Exactly.

I kinda wish the mods would be a bit more aggressive in cleaning up the troll trash that seems to be scattered about in every single tread. It is pretty pathetic how many turdhead ‘freepers’ are working their asses off to get Obama reelected.

What trap is that? I take anything the LSM puts out with only half a grain of salt. And I’m being generous here!

If you believe this unsourced nonsense, I have a nice bridge I’d like to show you. Do you realize that the pro-Romney SuperPACS have over a BILLION dollars stocked-up?

Romney has plenty of money for the last month!! This is good for the GOP races

I agree! I'm sure there are lots of folks running for Congress who will be happy to get that money to help with their own races.

Blame first has to go the GOP and the Liberal PhonyCons who run it, and the Liberal PhonyCons who apologize for it...which includes GOP Talk-Radio and Media

They are the ones responsible for pushing a weak candidate over more conservative and base-supporting candidates. They are the ones attacking the likes of Todd Akin over a comment he apologized for. They are the ones no complaining because Romney made a factual comment at a fund-raiser

I agree. ‘rat agent provocateurs couldn’t do a better job if they trying to demoralise weak-minded Republicans. A least let the election happen before we start crying that we’ve lost.

Not to mention, this is the second or third negative “rumor” or barely-a-poll that Romney’s team has denied themselves.

If you have a house and senate with the stones to do their job, Obama can be rendered pretty much powerless or even removed by other means.

So let me get this straight -- your plan is to lose the election, impeach Obama and then, uh, turn the White House over to Biden?

I'm not sure I follow...

I meant to say, second or third that I’ve seen at FR just today. What’s up with spreading the most nebulous negative information? Which is then easily refuted?

Yep, assuming there is truth to this (and I doubt it), maybe the purpose of these poll hijinx has more to do with stunting fundraising, not necessarily influencing votes.

Frankly, I doubt this has any truth to it.

Got a call tonight from the US Senatorial Committee fund raising. THEY brought up (when I declined) that majorities are the last line of defense should Obama pull this out.

The USSC is not counting on Romney. It’s not only the media, but Romney won’t fight, won’t break a sweat, won’t utter anything more than a sound bite, and I personally believe he has gagged Ryan, leaving even him beginning to appear deflated, demoralized.

We needed anyone else but Mitt, who were dying to take on Obama. Romney is suffering from the whimp factor and people are dsmn tired of waiting on him to engage.

Do you realize that the pro-Romney SuperPACS have over a BILLION dollars stocked-up?

Were they planning to spend that billion dollars this election cycle or the next cycle? Or are they spending it all on high-priced consultants?

And what exactly is Karl Rove's salary at Crossroads, Crossroads, GPS, etc? $1 million? $10 million? $50 million?
